Re: Arms wrist first or hips/body

  By: Tyler F on Oct. 27, 2020, 8:49 p.m.

Hi Garrett,

Welcome to the site! Looking at your swing, I would go first at the body. You get into a pretty solid follow-through position, and while your transition is a bit narrow, I think the body movements are more likely to cause your inconsis…

Re: Arms or pivot or both?

  By: Tyler F on Oct. 25, 2020, 9:28 a.m.

As you know, they both work together. But, when I look at your swing, I think the body position is the bigger influence. The arms don't look too bad, but you'll have a hard time finding driver consistency with such little axis tilt. Body position, t…

Re: Improving impact position

  By: Tyler F on Oct. 25, 2020, 9:24 a.m.

Garrett,

I'm seeing pretty much the same thing you are. With the full swing, you tend to pull a little harder with your arm through impact instead of turning the body. A good test might be for you to try the L to L but hit it HARD and see if you br…

Hey Ben,

Good looking move. Here are 3 pictures to help understand your draw issue. The last parallel shows the club coming from the inside, but the exit is under the hand checkpoint. If you look at the video, the path doesn't really go left until…

Here is a quick thought on transition. It's looking better, but yes, changing power sources is harder than just changing positions!

Re: Dechambeau Putting

  By: Tyler F on Oct. 4, 2020, 5:05 p.m.

Rick, Ulnar deviation puts a bunch of ligaments on tension. So it kinda locks out the wrist and provides high feedback. A number of great putters (like Brad Faxon) did it instinctively. In order to get the extended putter shaft in line with the fore…

It was "one thousand, one". The three syllables to one syllable gives you the three to one tempo pretty easily :)

Re: Distance, Body Weight

  By: Tyler F on Sept. 27, 2020, 9:40 a.m.

To your last question, I would say no. If you get the handle moving a certain speed, if you had more mass, that speed won't produce a greater distance. But I think there is some truth to his statement about bodyweight helping produce distance easier…

Re: Early release?

  By: Tyler F on Sept. 27, 2020, 9:23 a.m.

Way to put me in a tough spot ;)

My philosophy is to work on golf the way I would teach any other sport. I'd start with set up/grip etc, and then I'd work on the goal of the swing. So I usually teach in this rough order: set up, impact, follow-thro…

I'm not sold that it's "more consistent" or anything. Keep in mind that the tour standard is about +/- .4 degrees control at impact. Even with the putter "locked", .4 degrees of movement of the wrist is very possible. I'm a fan of high ulnar deviati…

Yes, it is. I'm working on a program to help you all analyze your own video. Having clear feedback is really invaluable for quality practice!

Hi Bradley,

Here are two videos related to getting across the line at the top. Have you seen them?

Re: Backfoot in Jamaica..

The simple answer is that he appears to be rotating his trunk through more the front side of his body (obliques) with some help from his trail glute. You appear to be rotating more with your back with some help from your lead quad. This combo create…

Re: Member question: When you really have to draw it?

  By: Tyler F on Sept. 13, 2020, 9:10 a.m.

If I strengthen my grip, then I don't have to put the wrist more in more flexion. For me, I lose a little bit of impact quality if I start trying to set up with too much flexion of the lead wrist.
