Good suggestion, I'll give it some thought and add it to my list!

Re: Driver Help

  By: Tyler F on July 20, 2020, 10:04 a.m.

It looks like the club is still higher than the height of the golf ball at this point in the swing. Also, harder to see from this view, but looks like the hands could be ahead enough that you'll have a hard time creating a more positive launch angle…

Re: Help for a Junior Getting Stuck

  By: Tyler F on July 17, 2020, 8:54 p.m.

One of the challenges with juniors is how much their swings can change. I once had a student shift his swing from a (-9) swing path to a (+12) after a 2-week vacation. He had no idea why it changed, but his swing was completely different. This extre…

Re: How do I get a long/straight arm follow-through to the finish?

  By: Tyler F on July 17, 2020, 9:11 a.m.

Hi Eric,

When the hands are this far behind, the force of the club will naturally want to pass too soon. Check this position with your 9-3. It's possible that the to 3 is slow enough you could resist the passing of the club and keep the arms stra…

Re: Takeaway and foot slide

  By: Tyler F on July 17, 2020, 9:06 a.m.

Yes, the humerus should have some rotation to it, but how much depends on the amount of internal rotation of the shoulder at set up. We still don't have a good data set of shoulder motion. So, unfortunately, we have to go off video to look at this p…

Re: Lower Body / Upper Body Connection Drill Video(s)?

  By: Tyler F on July 17, 2020, 9:02 a.m.

Hi Ed,

Getting the core involved can be really helpful for some. here are a few videos that address ways to train it. It's important to note that the trail shoulder blade is an important piece of this puzzle. That's why when you get more core, you…

Re: Low point too far forward

  By: Tyler F on July 17, 2020, 8:46 a.m.

The 6-8 inch low point isn't necessarily a bad thing. Justin Thomas can be around 7. More common with golfers who fade the ball. But, if you wanted to clean up the low launch and move the low point backward, it looks like you could use more ulnar de…

Re: Beginner swing feedback

  By: Tyler F on July 12, 2020, 10 a.m.

Glad to hear the backswing is working. If it feels odd, trust the video over the feels :)

As far as the arms on the way through, I think you could benefit from trying to get more body and less active arms through impact. I agree that it doesn't loo…

Re: Takeaway and foot slide

  By: Tyler F on July 12, 2020, 9:41 a.m.

+Mark E It does look like there isn't much arm rotation, so the trail hand is on top, maybe a bit too much. You'll want that lead elbow pointing more out instead of down at the ground. Try the "turn and grab" drill. Don't worry so much about the ce…

Re: Putting muscles

  By: Tyler F on July 9, 2020, 9:35 a.m.

+James B It's tricky to identify specific muscles, but I do like players who lack connection benefit from feeling a little tension on the inside of the armpit. It could be pec, it could be lat. But if the arms are too disconnected, then often the pa…

Re: Late shallowing by raising handle

  By: Tyler F on July 5, 2020, 12:21 p.m.

+Tyler F
It would be easier to see from the face on view, but this golfer appears to be lunging forward with his upper body in transition. That creates the steep pattern that needs the extra shallow late. In his case, it also moves slightly closer t…

Re: Can’t stop the pulls

  By: Tyler F on July 5, 2020, 11:31 a.m.

+Ian F I think you're in the right area. It looks like the club does get closed to the path. You'd want a little less stall flip down through impact. Getting steep in transition can contribute, so it's not a crazy idea to work their either.

I'd tr…

Re: Late shallowing by raising handle

  By: Tyler F on July 3, 2020, 1:20 p.m.

+John C Do you have a video of one of these students? It would be helpful to see exactly what you mean.

In general, a golfer who is shallow early will be steep late and a golfer who is steep early will be shallow late. So if I saw late swallowing,…
