Re: Page 112 and 113 of the Book

Hi Tim,

I'm assuming these are the two pictures your referencing? (I've attached the pictures for those reading along and don't want to pull out the text book.)

Typically, lift is a shallower and negative lift is a steepener. It can be argued tha…

Hi Zach,

Yes, those are looking better. A lot less "throwy" down at the bottom. Looks like you've figured out a way to get better width and lead arm structure in the follow through.

Good job!

Hi Christian,

Glad you’re enjoying the AI feature, we’re happy with how it’s evolving.

I’m not seeing a big loss of posture, but it looks like the backswing is under rotated and the arms lift to finish the backswing, then you transition with the…

Re: Connecting motorcycle move to ulnar deviation

Hi Petteri,

Unfortunately your issues are more on the subtle side rather than the glaring category. I think the top of the swing into transition is the thing that looks the most off (or rather, less on). It’s not bad, but it looks like you flex for…

Yes, that picture looks really solid to me. I always look for things to tweak, but not much to complain about there!

Hi Dom,

The hanger as a training aid jumps to mind as a way you might be able to feel “stiffer wrists”. Have you tried that?

Happy golfing,

Re: Good practice, bad play

  By: Tyler F on Jan. 28, 2026, 12:38 p.m.

Hi Mark,

I think that’s an unfortunate part of the process. It reminds me of a Tiger quote. In discussing a swing change, he said something along the lines of:
First I understand it, then it looks better on video, then it feels better, then it per…

Re: Shoulder retraction vs scapular retraction

  By: Tyler F on Jan. 28, 2026, 12:38 p.m.

Hi Zach,

Yes, the shoulder protraction, with elevation, can be a key trigger for those components you described. It’s definitely linked.

T6 and up is a commonly stuck area that has a huge impact on the golf swing.

For your clarifying question,…

Hi Petteri,

For training bracing, I like to use the two bucket station. It helps get a better sense of position in space. https://www.golfsmartacademy.com/golf-instruction/two-bucket-station/ From there I would check:
1 - legs/hips extension
2 - t…

Hi Zach,

After a little hiatus during the holidays, I got a bunch to catch up on here!

Looks like we got a few things to discuss. I decided to answer more in video form this time, I hope it helps.

Happy New Year of happy golfing!

Hi Dom,

Welcome to the program. I have a number of clients in their 70's still enjoying the pursuit and journey of getting better. Good luck.

I do think it's helpful to understand the reasons we play well, as well as the reasons we play poorly. …

Re: Connecting motorcycle move to ulnar deviation

  By: Tyler F on Jan. 8, 2026, 9:59 a.m.

Hi Petteri,

I think that your transition is pretty good. I'd say sequencing and maybe a little arm shallowing would be the clean up areas to focus on. But I'd be worried adding arm shallowing without first working on the bracing in the release. Th…

Hi Stan,

Here's a quick video discussing your backswing.

I'd work on spine extension to help with the centered pivot.

Re: Shoulder retraction vs scapular retraction

  By: Tyler F on Jan. 8, 2026, 8:50 a.m.

Shoulder mechanics are a little tricky. It's easy to define the movements, but then in practice the movements are often blurred together. I'd say both versions you demonstrate are scapular retraction. One has more depression and the other might even…
