Re: Stuck Arms

I think that could work. By description, it seems similar to my sharks fin drill. But with a stick instead of a pool noodle (which is probably way easier to set up)!

Re: Doing the Twist

The first video is one of my favorites. Victor Hovland losing his lead foot footing (kinda rare unless the ground is really soft). Then a picture of Dustin showing the general directions of push. Then Chris Como swinging with no GFR. Then a video of…

Happy to help.

Ideally, a face on with good frame rate is easiest to analyze. Then the down the line can help fill in the gaps. When it comes to driver, I almost always start with the impact window and looking at the flat spot.

Yes, I haven't filmed it yet, but I've outlined a video addressing that phenomenon. I phrase it, "some things feel dramatic and look subtle, other things look subtle but feel dramatic".

Lead arm high is another way of feeling ulnar deviation. It's…

Glad it's making sense, it's looking better. If when working on the scapula, you start losing low point (more thin or fat shots) then we need to work on the lead hip at the same time. As I said in your other thread, I have a video coming out soon th…

Hi Zach,

I wish I had the time to call each student every day and help talk through their thoughts, but it just isn't feasible. Also, I want my players to own their swings, makes them more resilient if something happens in the middle of a round. S…

Hi Andrew,

The thoracic extension could be something that you revisit from time to time. I have some players who have things that they work on, but have different feels that they play with. This could be the case for you. Also, I have a new video …

Re: Hitting thin shots

Yes, if we look at the body position at impact and follow through, it has more of an axis tilt look. Not much of a slide (hip isn't passed the foot), but more of a hang back of the upper body. With an iron, we want to get the upper body more over th…

Re: Early Extension and Open Hips

  By: Tyler F on Feb. 10, 2025, 6:36 p.m.

Hi Joey,

I agree that working on your impact position (attached picture), and the sequencing to get there likely has the biggest upside. I wouldn't really put you in the early extension category. Your hips are deep enough compared to your feet. If…

In old school language, it looks like you got a little quick on the left driver shot.

The hands get a little more out early, the body stands up causing a swallowing late and the club path is more in to out with a faster closing club face. It's a li…

Agreed, looks a lot less throwy.
Keep it up,

Re: Body rotation vs shotput punch

Hi Ron,

I'll do a video on this because I think it's a common question. Activating the body parts in a sequence is one of the keys to power. So the arms aren't completely passive. In that sense, it's similar to throwing a ball. You want the body t…

Re: Mach 3 speed up front and uppercut question

  By: Tyler F on Feb. 10, 2025, 12:45 p.m.

It's easy to miss some of the videos, I'm working on that this year :)

I think all the tools have merit. Anything that helps you sequence the body from the ground up will be helpful. And yes, I think some of the tools can be made easily, but some a…

Hi Andrew,

Yes, the COM behind the hands idea seems to help with the concepts of swallowing, sequencing, lag, shaft lean etc. It seems to help prevent getting steep at the bottom and overly arm dominant. The only concern I saw in the demo was that…

Re: NFL Films video on QB throwing motion

I finally got a chance to watch it, really cool documentary. Thanks for sharing. I think this video helps dispel the idea that good athletes don't think about their technique. Every tour pro I've ever worked with had a better than average understand…
