Re: Need your help

  By: Tyler F on June 16, 2022, 9:31 p.m.

Hi Bud,

Thanks for sharing your swing, there's a lot in there to unpack. I am a big fan of getting clear on goals. You can work on your swing, you can work on shot ability, you can work on scoring, but those aren't always the same. So I'm a little…

Re: Arms extending spectrum

  By: Tyler F on June 16, 2022, 8:26 a.m.

With the finesse wedge, I don't like to see a lot (or hardly any) lengthening of the arms through impact. So if they are straight, they stay straight and if they are bent, they stay bent. So yes, it is a spectrum from the driver (max extending) to t…

Re: Cant stop flipping

  By: Tyler F on June 16, 2022, 8:11 a.m.

Hi Dan,

I agree that the shaft extender is the best. Let's look at why. See the attached pictures.

In your swing, it looks like you have a pretty strong pull of the left arm inward and the hands give the appearance of flipping. I'm guessing if we…

Re: Starting my self-coaching journey

Yes, sounds like you're likely on the right track.

Often times that arm pull move is tied to power, so when you swing full it will be more likely to creep back in. At least initially. Keep ramping up the shorter swings in terms of length and aggre…

Re: Wipe with ulnar deviation

Connecting the ulnar deviation and the wipe can be tricky. Here's a little video I did answering another question during the pandemic.

Hi Andrew,

The first time posting your swing is always the scariest.

I think you're on the right track with the body stuff you're working on. I think you'll want to complement some arm training to help make it easier. Specifically, it looks like …

Re: Hip rise in Transition

  By: Tyler F on June 6, 2022, 10:57 a.m.

Hi Mark,

Thank you for the congratulations. It's been a wonderful, busy, couple of months so far!

Looking at your swing, it looks like hip rise in transition is part of the arm pull pattern. Your arm pull pattern looks more likely driven by the l…

Re: Wet course - finesse wedges

  By: Tyler F on June 6, 2022, 9:58 a.m.

Hi Rasmus,

I'd say yes to all those adjustments. They will all help move the low point forward and control depth. I don't often recommend getting more open since it causes a lot of golfers to they shallow out their body too much. But the rest of th…

Re: Where should I start

  By: Tyler F on June 6, 2022, 9:46 a.m.

Hi Scott,

Yes, it's common to feel that the motorcycle is done earlier with the longer clubs. I'd hope that your brain figures it out, but you can give it a quick look on video if you're having any doubts about the timing.

That's awesome about the…

Re: Hitting high shots

  By: Tyler F on June 6, 2022, 9:40 a.m.

Hi Rasmus,

  1. Getting the AOA lower will help with the launch as well as getting a little less shaft lean. So yes, a common reaction is feeling that you're picking the ball compared to your normal stock swing.

For some golfers, swinging a little m…

Hi Scott,

Welcome to the site! You started at the right place by posting your swing. You'll learn how to be your own best golf coach by learning how to analyze your video and relate the video to your stats/performance.

I'd start with impact, if yo…

Re: Toes and Tops

Hi William,

Welcome to the site, glad you're learning so much so quickly!

On to your issue. Typically, the big causes of toe shots are:
Standing up/pulling away from the ball
Tilting back too much
Arms pulling in
Outside in path

Looking at the pi…

Re: driver should be more efficient - farther?

  By: Tyler F on May 19, 2022, 9 a.m.

Here's a quick little video. I just have a pool noodle or alignment stick in line with the golf ball so that I can see where my hands need to be at impact. Could help with the timing of the release.

I can take a picture tomorrow, but basically a pool noodle in line with the golf ball to help give you a visual of where the hands need to be at contact. Right now, you'd pass the pool noodle well before impact.

A good visual checkpoint for the Moe Norman move is the space between the left bicep and ribs. You can see how your shoulder is pulling around behind you more so than the two Johnsons swings at the same point. I think the x-factor feeling you descri…
