Re: question for Tyler... Matthew Wolff swing

  By: Tyler F on May 18, 2020, 3:27 p.m.

+chordsaplenty I thought I had done an analysis on Matt Wolff's swing as well. But I couldn't find it either! I'll have to do another one in the near future.

I think for a lot of golfers, using a step or lifting the heel to help with timing and ra…

Re: Looking for general feedback

+Olle E Thanks for sharing your feedback. After practicing it more, is the unhinge piece feeling more comfortable? Is it still solving the miss pattern?

Keep it up!

+John C Hi John, thanks for the comment. Yes, so far, everyone I know is safe and healthy.

I think the simple answer is yes, that left side bend straightens the leg. But I think the better answer is that if you turn around the spine angle establis…

Re: How to Practice Swing

  By: Tyler F on May 18, 2020, 3:08 p.m.

+Nick W I appreciate your share/thoughts. Yes, there is definitely a difference in having the technique and having the skills to score. To be able to score, you need to refine your practice habits and build a solid routine for each shot. This routin…

Re: Early release?

+Eugene M Sorry for the delay, went back to teaching this week and had to relearn a schedule.

Re: Trail Arm Pronation

  By: Tyler F on May 10, 2020, 3:34 p.m.

+Seb J Good observation. I definitely prefer to see the inside of the forearm longer through impact. When I see the back of the elbow show up quickly, we usually have to fight pulls and pull hooks.

+Ed C Sorry for the delay, this week we went back to work :)

1 - How much it compares at set up varies a lot. It's dependent on grip and release pattern. As a general rule, both arms are about 30 degrees more pronated at impact than it was at set u…

Re: Setup Realization

  By: Tyler F on May 10, 2020, 3:29 p.m.

+Nick W As you get better and approach breaking 80 more consistently, I see routines becoming more and more important. A routine is part of the glue that helps things breed consistency.

When you are practicing at home, make sure you are practicing…

Re: are there any elite swings

  By: Tyler F on May 10, 2020, 3:21 p.m.

+Guy K One challenge is that this motion isn't currently measured by any system. Or at least, I've never seen good data on tour pros. So most of the claims of internal vs external are observational. Also, internal vs external is only one part of sho…

Re: Personal Motion Capture Devices

  By: Tyler F on May 10, 2020, 3:11 p.m.

+Nick W It really depends on what you want to do with them. I like hack motion for training the motorcycle movement, but as a student, you'd have to decide if it's worth it. Most of the easy systems are inertial based, so they give you rotations rea…

Fixing the thin shot!

  By: Tyler F on April 30, 2020, 2:15 p.m.

Brian had a common question about his swing, where should I get started. If you have a basic stroke, then it almost always makes sense to refine it by solving your worst miss. In his case, we want to fix the thin shots. Check out this video discussi…

Re: Finesse Wedge - Single Club or Multiple Clubs?

  By: Tyler F on April 30, 2020, 10:59 a.m.

+Nick W Depends a little bit. But I would put the better players at low single digit and below. At least the wedge play skills. If you have a hard time controlling loft and angle of attack, then you're better off changing clubs.

Re: Analyzing Tour Pro Swings?

  By: Tyler F on April 29, 2020, 12:05 p.m.

+Alex F Good suggestions.

Two of them I have already looked at:
I did a review on my swing from the early 2000s, but I could do an updated version. Also, I did an analysis of Bryson a few years ago.
