Re: Shaft lean

  By: Guy K on Jan. 16, 2024, 1:41 p.m.

Clarity on the four motions of the handle and their effect on the club face. Raise opens, lower closes so does forward open and backward close? Or is it other body motions that open/close the face and simple movement of the handle does nothi…

Yes, I believe I understand what you are saying in the short video. I am interested in what the club does when not being swung but leaned from a static grounded address position. To me, it opens as seen in the putter clip I attached. In the I…

Thanks. So when you demo leaning a club from address position and the face opens have to taken any 3 d measurements of the face angle and handle to see how much the face opens and that the handle doesn't twist? Folks are claiming the only reas…

Shaft lean

Tyler,
In your book and your isolated club movement video, you show that shaft lean from address opens or closes the face depending on whether you have forward or backward lean. A few folks I know claim that this will not open/close the face unl…

Re: shaft shallowest at top of swing

Thanks for the reply. I came to the same conclusion as you on the complexity of the factors when assessing whether a given position can be called steep or shallow. I speculate that the fsp may be the basis for assessing position - that is, dev…

One more question on shallowing. I understand the definition of determining a shallow versus steep movement, what I don't have a good understanding of is how one determines if a given position is shallow, steep, or neutral (I assume there would b…

On distance from the ball. So at setup it is neutral - lean club back and shallow cause face is further from ball - lean forward and it gets closer so steep. That is the basic idea? And when at the top as I mentioned laid off - shallow, down the…

shaft shallowest at top of swing

  By: Guy K on Feb. 17, 2023, 10:06 a.m.

I've recently heard it talked about the the shaft is shallowest at the top of the swing.
I'm confused at how this can be - it clearly isn't shallow if it is across the line or parallel to the target line - laid off I would think it is shallow but s…

Re: Trail shoulder goes internal?

Tyler,

Looking to see if I understand the lead arm lift graphs correctly. You said that typical lead arm lift is around 40* from setup - graphs you posted show lift starting in -70 range and going to just above 0 so slightly positive - just say 5…

Ah ha Better context. Figures I would need to see a bigger picture to better understand - things like right arm motion, thorax, etc. one body segments motion without context can lead to poor understanding. imagine there is a noticeable diff…

Re: Trail shoulder goes internal?

  By: Guy K on Feb. 3, 2023, 6:46 p.m.

Question This is shoulder lift not hands lift - where on the shoulder is this lift measured? And is there any way to tell where in the swing a motion point happens - for example, where do the pro graphs like stenson habe the arms start to move d…

This motion also seems to go with tour swings, in general, keeping the club close to their body inn the early downswing - if left arm works down early then club tends to move away.

Wow Very revealing Ams certainly appear to be pulling down from the top.
versus the pros.

Thanks much

Tyler,
Thanks for the effort and the information. Maybe someday it will be resolved.

A follow up on the arm lift spurred by the raise your arms to shallow. Do you have graphs that show this lead arm movement - does it rapidly lower, flatten…
