Lumbar Spine motion in the downswing

  By: John C on March 6, 2022, 5:21 a.m.

I was watching a two year old video of TW practicing. He was rehearsing keeping his hips deeper through transition to keep from standing up early in the downswing. I noticed his lumbar spine extended significantly, while maintaining forward bend, …

Analyzrgolf.com

I notice you use analyzrgolf.com. Any negatives? I currently use CoachNow and have some reservations about the swing analysis software.

Re: Trail Leg Mechanics

  By: John C on Nov. 3, 2021, 4:45 p.m.

Watching videos of Tiger, Rory, Adam Scott, the trail leg femur has a look of “twisting” with the pivot. Your video on trail leg mechanics gives the same look. Feels are different from person to person, but have you seen any data to indicate this …

Re: What are your golf goals for 2020?

  By: John C on Jan. 29, 2021, 10:25 a.m.

I have being trying to remove early extension of the spine and "steep late" for three years now. I have improved thanks to your drills and information posted to your website and from your book. The "Arms Deconstructed Drill" has been particularly …

Lead wrist extension post impact

  By: John C on Dec. 7, 2020, 8:20 p.m.

Working and videoing my own swing, I find that when I allow the lead wrist to go into extension after impact my hand path looks to move up and in much better. Does any of your work with motion capture and wrist flexion see this as a relationship? …

Grip sizing

  By: John C on Oct. 26, 2020, 10:08 a.m.

For years conventional wisdom was smaller grips promoted more active hands. Technology has shown many things we "conventionally" thought are not true. Instruction seems to be moving to a more stable club face and more body rotation through impact.…

Deconstruct Your Arm Position Video

  By: John C on Aug. 18, 2020, 9:47 a.m.

This was one of the drills you recommended on my video analysis and has become my "go to" drill for practice. Should pressure be preset on the lead foot when doing this drill?
As always, thanks!

Re: Lost Art of Putting Book

  By: John C on Aug. 5, 2020, 9:17 a.m.

Nick,
While I haven't read the book, your points are well taken. Good putting is really about finding a process that works, and it sounds like you incorporated elements from the book to create a positive process. Letting go of the result (making o…

Late shallowing by raising handle

  By: John C on July 1, 2020, 8:11 p.m.

I have had several young players recently who shallow the club in transition but the hand path and trail arm move well away from their bodies. As the club approaches impact they raise the handle to lower the clubhead onto the back of the ball. Wha…

My question to side bends is from some reflection on my own swing. You have done a swing analysis of my own swing which shows a flip release and early trail arm extension. As I have worked on this my contact moved towards the heel with an…

Side Bends

  By: John C on May 11, 2020, 7:06 a.m.

Tyler,
Hope you and everyone you care about are well. Is left side bend (for a right handed player) the main reason for extension of the right hip and leg in the backswing? Also is left side bend responsible for "recentering" (from Athletic Motio…

Lanny was on my list as well. Maybe the best, streakiest, iron player ever. As good as Johnny Miller. He is from Virginia, as is Sam Snead, and Curtis Strange. A pretty good list.

Jim Furyk is my favorite model For my students but love the aesthetics of Adam Scott. I’ll take either one.

Re: Member Q&A - Is swinging outside in the only way to steepen things?

Tyler,
I thought this was a great video and explained steep and shallow in a way I had never seen before (rise vs run). As always, thanks for your work.
