Re: I need your help! What looks do you hate in your swing?

+Gregory D Yes, I don't think anyone thinks their swing is perfect. You just have to know it and it's tendencies :)

Colorful imagery, do you have a snapshot of your swing at impact so I could see that position better?

+Dieter O Thanks for participating.

1 - open face in the takeaway usually comes from leading the movement with the arms and hands instead of the feet (left foot specifically). That could relate to your tendency to use the arms more in transition.

+John R Tnaks for participating. The inside takeaway can come from too much lead shoulder rotation, not early enough arm lift, too level a shoulder turn, too much upper body sway off the ball, or too much right arm bend.

Personally, I think the se…

+Glenn M Greetings Glenn. Enjoy your trip. Thanks for participating. I know that slide/lunge look is something you're working on. The two components to the lunge/steep pattern are the positions and the timing. The positions both require more wipe (l…

+Patti D I can visualize most of those looks, but what is the collapsing ankle in the takeaway? do you have a picture of it?

+John C That humping look can be a tricky one. It helps shallow the club, it creates space for early arm straightening, it helps close the face quickly, it puts less demand into hip flexibility...

The big thing with that one is finding a slow motio…

+Ed J Thanks for the response, I'll add it to my list. In the meantime, I'd consider you experimented with turning out your lead foot. Also, make sure the clubface in a position that allows you to rotate through impact.

+Ed C Thank you for the response, perhaps I should have also asked you what you love in your swing ;)

+Scott E Looking at your last post, it looks like you got it figured out. But if you want, feel free to post a video of your swing with this type of question. It can help give me an easier way to respond. Typically a big inside out path comes from e…

Re: Closed face

  By: Tyler F on Dec. 8, 2019, 9:14 a.m.

+Scott E Hey Scott,

Typically the face getting overly closed comes from one of a couple of causes.

1 - Most common is shaft lean/lag. If you have an early release that often causes the clubface to be too closed at impact.
- If you look at yourse…

+Nick W Here's the simple version of tracking your stats.

How many easy opportunities do you have? (GIR less than 30 feet)
What percent do you save par when you miss a fairway or miss a green?
How many doubles or worse do you make per round?

Spee…

+Ryan M My only issue with super speed is that the shape of the implement doesn't match the shape of the club. It's like swinging a baseball bat vs a hockey stick. So, it's helpful for some golfers to learn speed, and it helps train a very neutral p…

I want to know what "looks" you hate in your swing. We're going to get into some details of what has to change to fix those pesky looks. Please comment below!

I'm working on some content organization and an easier way to identify what to work on to improve your game. If your primary goal is to improve your score, then I'd use the following framework. (more details of this coming in the near future…

+Nick W I've yet to see a training aid that I didn't modify in some way with each student. While I think that training aids can be helpful, my evaluation of how good or bad they are depends on how well the student adapts their swing after their use,…
