Re: planemate?

I personally wasn't a huge fan of the plane mate. It gave some interesting feels while using it that I thought would have carry over, but it didn't really show up that way for me or any of the students I tried it with.

As far as the gravity…

Re: Keeping your eye on the ball, with irons and the drive is the same ?

  By: Tyler F on Jan. 27, 2020, 9:14 a.m.

Vascos,

From what I've seen, there are two keys here: keeping the eyes focused on the ball and controlling the movement of the upper body.

In some ways, keeping the eyes focused on the ball helps keep the upper body more centered. This centeredne…

Member Q&A - Is swinging outside in the only way to steepen things?

  By: Tyler F on Jan. 15, 2020, 6:40 p.m.

A member asked the question:
"I was reviewing your book again. I find it helpful to read it and then set it down for a while to let what I read sink in.

I have a question about steeps and shallows and how they relate to path. I do not believe …

How does wind impact your drive?

  By: Tyler F on Jan. 10, 2020, 7:50 a.m.

We all know that the wind influences your drive, but some cool modeling from Dave Tuttleman might help with the details. I'll post the article at the bottom of this post, but the quick summary of the data is that drives into the wind are influenced …

Re: Member Q&A - Discussing the rate of side bend?

  By: Tyler F on Jan. 10, 2020, 7:46 a.m.

+Ed C To counterbalance the pull of the club is part of it, but it's also to help accelerate the club. Down at impact, the majority of the force is normal to the movement of the club. Meaning that the dominant pull is back up toward the golfer. Not …

Re: Do pros hit every shot solid?

  By: Tyler F on Jan. 8, 2020, 7:41 p.m.

+Jeremy P My guess is that if you were to look at the situations it was into the grain. Uphill slopes, slightly wet, into the grain, really tight lies, or extra sandy soil can all make it less forgiving if you try and use the bounce. We even saw Jus…

Member Q&A - Discussing the rate of side bend?

  By: Tyler F on Jan. 8, 2020, 7:18 p.m.

Brian asked on the site - https://golfsmartacademy.com/golf-instruction/monitoring-right-side-bend/

Tyler, I have a conceptual question: is there a 3-D graph that shows the rate of right side bend from the top of the swing to impact? I don’t want …

Do pros hit every shot solid?

  By: Tyler F on Jan. 6, 2020, 11:03 a.m.

I like to help my students manage expectations. If you put too much pressure on your results, you will create tension that may hurt your path or face control. Here's a good video put out from the European tour of bad shots from last year. Focus on t…

Re: Interesting Data on Hand Speed

  By: Tyler F on Jan. 4, 2020, 7:23 a.m.

Ron, I have seen the same pattern in my 3D experience. In fact, here's an excerpt from the book I published a few years ago that says the same thing (pic 1). The other two pictures are the graphs of mid-hand speeds. The first one shows an amateur re…

Re: Tiger Woods talks about his hands

  By: Tyler F on Dec. 30, 2019, 12:24 p.m.

Tiger is consistent in describing his keys for his swing. He has said in many interviews that he feels the swing in his left hand, and when he is in a tournament he feels like that awareness gets heightened.

His comment of about working on differe…

What are your golf goals for 2020?

This is a pretty simple article to help you prioritize your practice if your goal is breaking 80.

Re: Best Training Aids

  By: Tyler F on Dec. 26, 2019, 9:19 p.m.

I haven't tried the orange peel myself. So, I can't endorse it.

I usually fix a slide by working on the pivot with some spatial support (shafts or pool noodles) combined with some improvements in trail arm external rotation and the wipe.

I'm a big fan of the Visio putting mats. Especially for visual learners or golfers with face rotation issues.

Re: Best Video Editing for iPhone

  By: Tyler F on Dec. 26, 2019, 8:54 p.m.

Nick,

I'd say the most common software is just using the native IOS with 240 FPS. That being said, I use HUDL Technique to film my students swings, and when I export them, it remains at 240.

Re: I need your help! What looks do you hate in your swing?

  By: Tyler F on Dec. 8, 2019, 1:04 p.m.

+Jules C Definitely. If you were in his body position with your arm motion, you'd hit it 6 inches fat. The images are the timing when your arm appears to start firing compared to when Mac does it. Pretty big differences.
