Re: My Roll Release Stall

  By: Tyler F on June 9, 2024, 2:27 p.m.

Jeremy,

Yes, the lower reps will help, but the most important key is making sure that you're doing the motion more from the hips and rib cage while the abs stay active. I know you did some rehab there, so hopefully you're better at keeping your ab…

Re: Physical or conceptual reasons for not being able to translate baseball rotation

  By: Tyler F on June 2, 2024, 9:56 a.m.

No sport is a perfect parallel to the golf swing, but baseball has some common challenges that don't translate. Looking at baseball impact is like looking at a perfect recipe for a face-open chunk shank.

Same thing in your picture, low point, and …

Re: Take Away - lower body vs scapula pull

  By: Tyler F on June 2, 2024, 9:50 a.m.

Jake doesn't really check these posts anymore, but I'll add my two cents.

For the takeaway, I like the analogy of pushing a shopping cart. When you push the shopping cart, you use your legs/feet, your core, and your arms in concert. What you feel …

I like that trail arm connection drill for you. It should help you get some new feels for that right side!

Thank you, it's fun to have a community of like-minded golf nerds 🙏

Re: rib cage sway

  By: Tyler F on June 2, 2024, 9:42 a.m.

Hi Dan, Yes, I agree that the rib cage sway can help integrate a few things more naturally. Your list (starting lead shoulder down, keeping back to target, not spinning shoulders over too fast, not pulling with hands initially etc.) is pretty good. …

Re: My Roll Release Stall

Hi Jeremy,

Thanks for the post, I'm glad you're still grinding at it. Yes, I think working on the body will help complement the arms.

So I think the key piece in your grocery list is the leg extension as part of the bracing. I know that once whe…

Re: Deep Divots

  By: Tyler F on May 19, 2024, 11:45 a.m.

Typically, deep divots require a few factors. Either the body has lowered so that the depth of the swing is too low compared to the golf ball, or the arms have pulled in while lengthening through impact. If you look at the example pictures I posted,…

Re: Swing path curvature from the golfer’s perspective

  By: Tyler F on May 19, 2024, 11:35 a.m.

The common theme between the putting arc and the full swing is that both clubs are swung on a tilted plane. That tilted plane creates an inward and upward movement in the backswing, down and out in the downswing, and then back up and in on the follo…

I agree that the disassociation is looking better there. You might still keep an eye on the trail arm connection in the release, but overall it looks less "hookish".

Good luck!

Re: What to focus on?

  By: Tyler F on May 13, 2024, 12:13 p.m.

Hi Matt,

There are some good elements in your swing. But I think the most glaring issue to me is the amount of early upper body rotation. Your shoulders appear to rotate as soon, or even ahead of, the lower body right away. This causes the path to…

Re: T-Rex UD gone too far?

  By: Tyler F on May 5, 2024, 10:26 a.m.

It's looking better, but if you're still searching for the main culprit. I think the rib cage and the pelvis move too much as one unit (look at the quick clip of your dtl swing I added). As a result, they have to stall a bit at the bottom and you'll…

Re: Hanging back?

  By: Tyler F on May 5, 2024, 10:16 a.m.

Hi Dave,

The shaft lean at impact looks much better in this drill. That's what gives you the feeling of better compression. If I was going to identify something to keep working on, I would try to improve the trail wrist extension. Two signs that th…

Re: Power sources and their influences on the forces within the hands

  By: Tyler F on May 5, 2024, 10:11 a.m.

Hey Zach,

Interesting observation and topic. It seems like we're getting closer to have larger data sets of grip forces, which might reveal some cleaner answers. My guess is that we don't want a lot of floppiness and spacing. I think having more o…

Re: Early Extension in backswing

  By: Tyler F on April 24, 2024, 11:40 a.m.

Hi Scott,

Sorry for missing it the first time. It looks to me like the early extension is heavily influenced by your weight at set up. Check out these two pictures. It looks like with your set up, you're upper body is too much over your heels and …
