AMG Critiques

Just wondering if you watched the Athletic Motion Golf Video calling out the motorcycle movement.

They sure are chirping a lot these days. I wonder if you just ignore these things. They just seem to be very trusted right now but really like to misquote and take things out of context?

No, I haven't seen it. I usually only see golf videos when other coaches send them to me. So feel free to post it here and I'll take a look.

But to answer your question, I pretty much ignore comments and commentary and just keep studying the body and exploring the swing.

With the golf internet where it is, I think we're at a place where you have to be able to discern which information is useful and which information is confusing or misleading. I think good golf swing is the overlap of good club physics and good biomechanics. It's the lens I use to assess these tips.

I find that the AMG videos are interesting but often unclear. I find their videos follow a pattern of pointing out something you shouldn't do (shallow, sequence, motorcycle, wipe etc) but fail to provide a clear alternative. And they never post graphs or data to see how they got to the conclusions they made. They just say, here's what we see, trust us. But back to my original lens, more often than not their suggestions contradict good biomechanics.

My last comment. If you watch the demonstration Shaun makes at the end of the clip, you can clearly see a change in wrist angles that would reflect a normal motorcycle pattern. I guess he should work on fixing that.

Happy Golfing,
Tyler
