P6 grip position

P6 grip position

I am trying to get the grip over my trail thigh at P6 but it lags behind as photo shows. I've tried drills in the pump/lag/unhinge/t-rex videos without much improvement and my release looks early. On swing cat, I have high torque, okay vertical and low lateral if that helps. Happy to share any additional info. BTW, the green vertical line is a reference point from my coach that the outside of my lead shoulder from address should be one arm width past the line at impact. Appreciate your expert advise on any/all you see in the photos. Thank you! Scott

Hi Scott,

When analyzing the delivery position/lag checkpoint, there are a few likely culprits for the arms being behind at that spot.

Either the arms are behind the body/shoulder
The shoulders are too far forward compared to the arms
The hips and core are under rotated.

It's typically easier to see from the down the line the rotation of the hips and core. (It looks like that and the trail shoulder motion is more likely your cause. It doesn't look like your arms are too active, but that might be easier to see from a video rather than a static picture. If you're still curious, post a video, especially down the line to see why you might be missing this checkpoint.

Thanks, Tyler. Here's a DTL video. Appreciate your feedback. I'll hold on what my feels are in the swing as I suspect you'll identify them. This swing was a full swing at 3/4 speed.

Hi Scott,
It does look like the body is a little closed at delivery position. You can see how the hips and chest are pointing in roughly the same direction, not a lot of spine rotation. That has a big impact on the look of how much the hands are in front from the face on view. Compare to Adam Scott's picture, his shoulders are more closed but chest and hips are more open, that removes the slack allowing the arms to be behind.
