Early Extension - Late?

Early Extension - Late?

Hi Tyler - What do you think is causing me to early extend into the ball? The issue is I don't even feel the early extension.

This swing is set up to hit a controlled pull cut.

I have been troubleshooting this:

- Without a ball, I can swing w/o early extending
- Flat spot looks OK to my eye, w/o a ball
- I consistently miss on the toe

Maybe I need to address the ball with the heel of the driver?

The practice swings help with the discussion. The real swing, I would have said it looks like the early extension is helping you pull with your lead shoulder. The shoulders look like they want to get really open and the early extension could be a way of balancing that out. In the practice swings, you'll see a couple things. Yes, you don't early extend as much, but, at impact, there is a ton of shaft lean and the face is open. With the shaft lean and angle of attack in that practice swing, you would hit the ball very low, and you wouldn't be able to close the face without hitting it lower. I think the early extension helps you balance those. Again, I think the excessive shoulder rotation can create the shaft lean/open face scenario you're facing.

Happy Golfing,
Tyler
