Wrist flexion vs stronger grip

Wrist flexion vs stronger grip

  By: William F on July 30, 2022, 7:05 p.m.

On my quest to golf stardom I’ve constantly struggled with lead wrist flexion, and definitely struggled with trail wrist extension in the downswing. It just feels foreign and messed with my sequencing.Even with the slo mos. I know it can be important for club face stability and shallowing but can we create a stable face with a stronger grip and focusing on rotation through the ball instead? That feels more natural to me but I know Natural is not always optimal. Thanks!

Hi William,

Yes, a stronger grip and more body rotation can create stability of the face. The only issue with using it vs flexion/extension is that it can cause path or low point challenges and provide fewer options on shots around the green (especially thick rough and bunkers). But if it's more comfortable to play with the stronger grip, then just keep an eye on it as it relates to contact and low point.
