Identify your common path and face limiting factors to breakthrough with your performance.
Common issues come from the path being too much in-to-out or out-to-in. This can also happen if the face to path is too far out of alignment.
Too Much Right path
- Steep early/shallow late
- Hit my arms idea
- Arms Behind Body
- Slide
- Rehinge wrists
Too Much Left Path
- Upper Body Spin (no axis tilt)
- Arm Pull
- Steep Release (no Ulnar)
- Trail shoulder internal rotation
- Lead wrist extension/trail flexion
Face Killers
- Palm Grip
- Feeling the weight of the club in the shaft
- Arm tension
- Trying not to let the face rotate

00:00:00.000 --> 00:00:08.040
All right, here we go with troubleshooting hitting them all straight.
2
00:00:08.040 --> 00:00:15.160
So as we talked about in round two, this is learning to move the contact
3
00:00:15.160 --> 00:00:17.320
location or move
4
00:00:17.320 --> 00:00:21.620
the swing path either into out, out to in, et cetera, getting clear on our
5
00:00:21.620 --> 00:00:22.240
visuals and
6
00:00:22.240 --> 00:00:24.360
matching them up with some fields.
7
00:00:24.360 --> 00:00:30.450
Well, when you analyze your video, you can figure out is it more of a path
8
00:00:30.450 --> 00:00:31.640
issue coming
9
00:00:31.640 --> 00:00:36.670
from the downswing or is it more of a release path issue where I'm fine coming
10
00:00:36.670 --> 00:00:37.320
into the
11
00:00:37.320 --> 00:00:40.920
ball, but then it exits in a poor position.
12
00:00:40.920 --> 00:00:45.080
So using the video, you can figure out, okay, is my path too far to the right?
13
00:00:45.080 --> 00:00:47.160
Is my path too far to the left?
14
00:00:47.160 --> 00:00:50.300
Is my face off and when?
15
00:00:50.300 --> 00:00:54.840
Then is one of the key elements for really troubleshooting your pattern,
16
00:00:54.840 --> 00:00:55.800
because if you
17
00:00:55.800 --> 00:00:59.490
can see when it gets off, you can associate what movements happen at that time
18
00:00:59.490 --> 00:00:59.940
and what
19
00:00:59.940 --> 00:01:03.700
movements you might be doing too much of or you might be lacking.
20
00:01:03.700 --> 00:01:07.640
If your path gets too much to the right, I've got a bunch more drills here that
21
00:01:07.640 --> 00:01:08.060
are some
22
00:01:08.060 --> 00:01:14.850
of my favorites for helping you get your hand path working a little bit more to
23
00:01:14.850 --> 00:01:16.580
the left,
24
00:01:16.580 --> 00:01:19.630
seeking out some of the stall pattern, taking out some of the things that
25
00:01:19.630 --> 00:01:20.320
really create
26
00:01:20.320 --> 00:01:22.600
a lot of inconsistency.
27
00:01:22.600 --> 00:01:23.860
This is the more common one.
28
00:01:23.860 --> 00:01:28.620
If your path is too much to the left, so if you're an outside ins lacer, then I
29
00:01:28.620 --> 00:01:29.080
've got
30
00:01:29.080 --> 00:01:34.910
some drills to help you identify or explore a little bit better, how to power
31
00:01:34.910 --> 00:01:35.780
it more from
32
00:01:35.780 --> 00:01:42.130
your legs and your core, how to get the club to fall behind, how to take out
33
00:01:42.130 --> 00:01:42.840
some of the
34
00:01:42.840 --> 00:01:47.340
tension, some of these are the really big killers.
35
00:01:47.340 --> 00:01:52.870
Lastly, when we're looking at clubface, let's say you've done a lot of these
36
00:01:52.870 --> 00:01:53.600
drills and
37
00:01:53.600 --> 00:01:56.480
you're really struggling with it.
38
00:01:56.480 --> 00:02:01.100
The face killers are typically either grip related, so I've got the club in the
39
00:02:01.100 --> 00:02:01.520
wrong
40
00:02:01.520 --> 00:02:05.130
spot typically more in the palm, which locks the wrist from being able to do
41
00:02:05.130 --> 00:02:05.760
some of its
42
00:02:05.760 --> 00:02:07.760
free movements.
43
00:02:07.760 --> 00:02:12.450
I've got so much tension and so much force that I'm not able to feel the club
44
00:02:12.450 --> 00:02:15.200
head itself.
45
00:02:15.200 --> 00:02:21.150
This can happen with golfers who came from a background maybe doing rock
46
00:02:21.150 --> 00:02:22.200
climbing or
47
00:02:22.200 --> 00:02:27.240
motorcycling or kayaking or anything where you have a lot of grip tension and
48
00:02:27.240 --> 00:02:27.800
you're
49
00:02:27.800 --> 00:02:31.120
doing more of the control elements in the shoulders.
50
00:02:31.120 --> 00:02:34.670
In golf, we're going to have a little bit more of the shoulders having some
51
00:02:34.670 --> 00:02:35.200
tension
52
00:02:35.200 --> 00:02:41.030
and the forearms have to be loose enough in order to feel the weight and to
53
00:02:41.030 --> 00:02:41.960
allow the
54
00:02:41.960 --> 00:02:45.680
clubface to rotate.
55
00:02:45.680 --> 00:02:50.550
Feeling the weight, palm grip, arm tension as well as some golfers just have an
56
00:02:50.550 --> 00:02:50.960
idea
57
00:02:50.960 --> 00:02:54.860
in their mind that I need to hold the clubface pointing at the target, so
58
00:02:54.860 --> 00:02:55.760
learning to let
59
00:02:55.760 --> 00:03:00.790
the clubface do its natural rotation can be really key for if you're struggling
60
00:03:00.790 --> 00:03:01.160
with
61
00:03:01.160 --> 00:03:06.530
this pattern here, a face open, path steep, but over on the right, I've got a
62
00:03:06.530 --> 00:03:07.280
bunch more
63
00:03:07.280 --> 00:03:14.600
videos to help you troubleshoot your biggest face issues, path issues.
64
00:03:14.600 --> 00:03:18.570
If you've gone through them and you're still struggling, then it could be more
65
00:03:18.570 --> 00:03:19.320
of a sequence
66
00:03:19.320 --> 00:03:23.120
issue which we'll get to in the last class.
67
00:03:23.120 --> 00:03:27.140
If you struggle with one of these related to just the driver, don't worry, that
68
00:03:27.140 --> 00:03:27.440
's what
69
00:03:27.440 --> 00:03:31.840
we're going to troubleshoot in the next class.
1
00:00:00.000 --> 00:00:08.040
All right, here we go with troubleshooting hitting them all straight.

from the downswing or is it more of a release path issue where I'm fine coming
10
00:00:36.670 --> 00:00:37.320

11
00:00:37.320 --> 00:00:40.920
ball, but then it exits in a poor position.
12

So using the video, you can figure out, okay, is my path too far to the right?
