Understand the details to what changes your low point quality.

The low point location can be simplified to the body position and the arm movements. To train the body position, we'll use the trusty merry go round. This drill solves a majority of low point issues, but not all of them. So we'll also start training the arm movements with the 9-3 and push ball drills. We'll revisit the arm movements in greater detail in class number 5.

1
00:00:00.000 --> 00:00:07.560
Now that you've played around with low point, we're going to get into a little

2
00:00:07.560 --> 00:00:07.900
bit of the

3
00:00:07.900 --> 00:00:11.320
details of how to control the low point, but we're still going to do it in a

4
00:00:11.320 --> 00:00:11.880
little bit

5
00:00:11.880 --> 00:00:12.880
higher level.

6
00:00:12.880 --> 00:00:17.360
We're going to look at the merry-go-round and the pushball drill.

7
00:00:17.360 --> 00:00:20.950
The merry-go-round will help you figure out where you want your body to be at

8
00:00:20.950 --> 00:00:21.640
impact.

9
00:00:21.640 --> 00:00:27.880
So we talked about the two main factors being this upper body position.

10
00:00:27.880 --> 00:00:31.340
We're going to give you a drill to help you dial in exactly where you want that

11
00:00:31.340 --> 00:00:31.800
body to

12
00:00:31.800 --> 00:00:33.960
be at impact.

13
00:00:33.960 --> 00:00:37.200
And then looking at the arm timing, if you're used to straightening the arms

14
00:00:37.200 --> 00:00:38.040
into the ball,

15
00:00:38.040 --> 00:00:43.730
kind of more of a hit into the ball, then getting into this impact position and

16
00:00:43.730 --> 00:00:44.580
learning

17
00:00:44.580 --> 00:00:48.990
to extend those arms and push the arms through the ball will give you kind of a

18
00:00:48.990 --> 00:00:49.760
good timing

19
00:00:49.760 --> 00:00:52.880
as far as the arm straightening later.

20
00:00:52.880 --> 00:00:57.710
In the subsequent rounds, when we go through the low point drills, we are going

21
00:00:57.710 --> 00:00:58.420
to dig in

22
00:00:58.420 --> 00:01:03.000
a little bit deeper into some of the subtleties of these two drills.

23
00:01:03.000 --> 00:01:09.200
Once you've worked through those drills, then you want to go into doing some 9

24
00:01:09.200 --> 00:01:10.580
to 3s, 10

25
00:01:10.580 --> 00:01:14.380
to 2s, up to full swings, and monitor your ground contact.

26
00:01:14.380 --> 00:01:18.410
So I recommend keeping those lines as you're working through the low point

27
00:01:18.410 --> 00:01:18.900
drill.

28
00:01:18.900 --> 00:01:24.490
So don't fret or don't worry too much if you don't perfect it this first time

29
00:01:24.490 --> 00:01:25.420
around.

30
00:01:25.420 --> 00:01:29.310
We're going to dig into more layers as to how you're going to control low point

31
00:01:29.310 --> 00:01:29.580
.

32
00:01:29.580 --> 00:01:34.450
But this will just help you understand if you're iron contact, so one of those

33
00:01:34.450 --> 00:01:34.860
core

34
00:01:34.860 --> 00:01:36.020
four skills.

35
00:01:36.020 --> 00:01:40.510
If your iron contact is struggling mostly because of contact, then this will

36
00:01:40.510 --> 00:01:41.060
help you

37
00:01:41.060 --> 00:01:46.560
investigate what's going on, what do I need to work on as far as controlling

38
00:01:46.560 --> 00:01:47.700
low point.

39
00:01:47.700 --> 00:01:50.900
In the next class, we're going to talk about hitting the ball straight.

40
00:01:50.900 --> 00:01:54.670
Sometimes, your low point issues show up because of how you're controlling the

41
00:01:54.670 --> 00:01:56.540
clubface, so

42
00:01:56.540 --> 00:02:01.420
the next round might actually help you also work on your contact as well as

43
00:02:01.420 --> 00:02:02.300
hitting the

44
00:02:02.300 --> 00:02:03.460
ball much straighter.

45
00:02:03.460 --> 00:02:09.640
If you struggle with a big slice or a big hook, the next round is set up just

46
00:02:09.640 --> 00:02:10.540
for you.
