How can you use video to help you identify your low point control errors?
On video, low point can be quickly summarized with the low point line. Simply identify which parts of your body are not on the low point line to start decoding which part of your swing is causing your contact problems. For more details on the low point training, check out class 5 and class 7.

1
00:00:00.000 --> 00:00:07.600
Low point part three, we're going to talk about analyzing your video.
2
00:00:07.600 --> 00:00:11.760
So how can you determine what might be your major low point issues?
3
00:00:11.760 --> 00:00:15.430
Well, when you're looking at video for low point, you're primarily going to
4
00:00:15.430 --> 00:00:16.240
look at face
5
00:00:16.240 --> 00:00:22.280
on what I refer to as FO, so face on video or the caddy view.
6
00:00:22.280 --> 00:00:26.630
So if I'm hitting a golf ball that way, face on is perpendicular to that target
7
00:00:26.630 --> 00:00:27.200
line just
8
00:00:27.200 --> 00:00:28.200
like this.
9
00:00:28.200 --> 00:00:34.190
You're going to start at impact, but then you're going to look at about what we
10
00:00:34.190 --> 00:00:34.660
call
11
00:00:34.660 --> 00:00:39.010
P6 when the club is parallel to the ground and about P8 when the club is
12
00:00:39.010 --> 00:00:39.600
parallel to
13
00:00:39.600 --> 00:00:41.040
the ground in the follow through.
14
00:00:41.040 --> 00:00:44.080
You're going to look for a few key factors.
15
00:00:44.080 --> 00:00:49.480
So looking at the low point line, what's behind is it?
16
00:00:49.480 --> 00:00:50.480
Is it more my body?
17
00:00:50.480 --> 00:00:51.480
Is it behind?
18
00:00:51.480 --> 00:00:53.040
Or is it more my hands are behind?
19
00:00:53.040 --> 00:00:56.490
If my body is in a good position and my hands are behind, then it's mostly an
20
00:00:56.490 --> 00:00:56.980
arm and
21
00:00:56.980 --> 00:00:58.400
release issue.
22
00:00:58.400 --> 00:01:02.240
If everything is behind, then it's more of a pivot issue, and I need to dig
23
00:01:02.240 --> 00:01:02.880
into some
24
00:01:02.880 --> 00:01:08.280
of the details of the merry-go-round a little bit better.
25
00:01:08.280 --> 00:01:12.680
One of the common issues will be shaft lean or no shaft lean.
26
00:01:12.680 --> 00:01:15.980
That can relate to how you're controlling the club face, but we'll talk about
27
00:01:15.980 --> 00:01:17.220
that in the
28
00:01:17.220 --> 00:01:21.120
next section when we go into how to hit the ball straight or control curve.
29
00:01:21.120 --> 00:01:27.110
So the big picture here is looking at width or which side of the impact
30
00:01:27.110 --> 00:01:29.080
position is wider.
31
00:01:29.080 --> 00:01:32.970
If you tend to really struggle with low point issues, you will most likely have
32
00:01:32.970 --> 00:01:33.460
the club
33
00:01:33.460 --> 00:01:37.300
wide before the ball and then narrow after the ball.
34
00:01:37.300 --> 00:01:42.770
To get a better flat spot and a better impact line, you want to have the club
35
00:01:42.770 --> 00:01:43.460
narrow or
36
00:01:43.460 --> 00:01:48.380
more in line with the golf ball coming in and then wider on the way through.
37
00:01:48.380 --> 00:01:52.040
That can relate to arm extension timing, but it can also relate to how you're
38
00:01:52.040 --> 00:01:52.800
controlling
39
00:01:52.800 --> 00:01:56.480
the club face, which we'll dig into in the next section.
40
00:01:56.480 --> 00:01:58.080
Quick summary here, tying it all together.
41
00:01:58.080 --> 00:02:02.680
If you're struggling with low point, you want to look at your basic swing shape
42
00:02:02.680 --> 00:02:02.920
.
43
00:02:02.920 --> 00:02:04.400
Where is the low point?
44
00:02:04.400 --> 00:02:09.350
So you can draw the lines and just work on figuring out your own way to get the
45
00:02:09.350 --> 00:02:09.880
bottom
46
00:02:09.880 --> 00:02:13.320
of the swing ahead of the golf ball that will help with solid contact.
47
00:02:13.320 --> 00:02:18.360
You also want to look at the width and the flat spot and the depth.
48
00:02:18.360 --> 00:02:22.120
Those will all relate to more the consistency and the repeatability of how well
49
00:02:22.120 --> 00:02:22.540
you can
50
00:02:22.540 --> 00:02:24.380
control that low point.
51
00:02:24.380 --> 00:02:30.620
The big factors in controlling your low point relate to where is the upper body
52
00:02:30.620 --> 00:02:31.380
in space
53
00:02:31.380 --> 00:02:34.380
and at what time are the arms straightening.
54
00:02:34.380 --> 00:02:39.320
Remember, I use the arms to represent what's happening at the shoulders, what's
55
00:02:39.320 --> 00:02:40.060
happening
56
00:02:40.060 --> 00:02:43.020
at the elbows, and what's happening at the wrist.
57
00:02:43.020 --> 00:02:46.550
In the next levels, we'll dig into more of the details of which part of your
58
00:02:46.550 --> 00:02:47.580
arm straightening
59
00:02:47.580 --> 00:02:52.260
might be affecting your low point if you have more of a release issue.
60
00:02:52.260 --> 00:02:56.600
But in the next class, we're going to go through the first round of talking
61
00:02:56.600 --> 00:02:56.900
about how
62
00:02:56.900 --> 00:03:00.220
to hit the ball straight, what controls curve.
63
00:03:00.220 --> 00:03:03.290
So you're going to learn not just to make solid contact, but you're going to
64
00:03:03.290 --> 00:03:03.700
learn how
65
00:03:03.700 --> 00:03:05.420
to control ball flight.
66
00:03:05.420 --> 00:03:09.770
You'll also discover a couple reasons why your brain might subconsciously
67
00:03:09.770 --> 00:03:10.540
struggle with
68
00:03:10.540 --> 00:03:11.540
this low point.
69
00:03:11.540 --> 00:03:14.340
So we'll see you in the next round where we cover hitting the ball straight or
70
00:03:14.340 --> 00:03:14.940
controlling
71
00:03:14.940 --> 00:03:17.420
your ball flight.
1
00:00:00.000 --> 00:00:07.600
Low point part three, we're going to talk about analyzing your video.
2
00:00:07.600 --> 00:00:11.760
So how can you determine what might be your major low point issues?
3
00:00:11.760 --> 00:00:15.430
Well, when you're looking at video for low point, you're primarily going to
4
00:00:15.430 --> 00:00:16.240
look at face
5
00:00:16.240 --> 00:00:22.280
on what I refer to as FO, so face on video or the caddy view.
6
00:00:22.280 --> 00:00:26.630
So if I'm hitting a golf ball that way, face on is perpendicular to that target
7
00:00:26.630 --> 00:00:27.200
line just
8
00:00:27.200 --> 00:00:28.200
like this.
9
00:00:28.200 --> 00:00:34.190
You're going to start at impact, but then you're going to look at about what we
10
00:00:34.190 --> 00:00:34.660
call
11
00:00:34.660 --> 00:00:39.010
P6 when the club is parallel to the ground and about P8 when the club is
12
00:00:39.010 --> 00:00:39.600
parallel to
13
00:00:39.600 --> 00:00:41.040
the ground in the follow through.
14
00:00:41.040 --> 00:00:44.080
You're going to look for a few key factors.
15
00:00:44.080 --> 00:00:49.480
So looking at the low point line, what's behind is it?
16
00:00:49.480 --> 00:00:50.480
Is it more my body?
17
00:00:50.480 --> 00:00:51.480
Is it behind?
18
00:00:51.480 --> 00:00:53.040
Or is it more my hands are behind?
19
00:00:53.040 --> 00:00:56.490
If my body is in a good position and my hands are behind, then it's mostly an
20
00:00:56.490 --> 00:00:56.980
arm and
21
00:00:56.980 --> 00:00:58.400
release issue.
22
00:00:58.400 --> 00:01:02.240
If everything is behind, then it's more of a pivot issue, and I need to dig
23
00:01:02.240 --> 00:01:02.880
into some
24
00:01:02.880 --> 00:01:08.280
of the details of the merry-go-round a little bit better.
25
00:01:08.280 --> 00:01:12.680
One of the common issues will be shaft lean or no shaft lean.
26
00:01:12.680 --> 00:01:15.980
That can relate to how you're controlling the club face, but we'll talk about
27
00:01:15.980 --> 00:01:17.220
that in the
28
00:01:17.220 --> 00:01:21.120
next section when we go into how to hit the ball straight or control curve.
29
00:01:21.120 --> 00:01:27.110
So the big picture here is looking at width or which side of the impact
30
00:01:27.110 --> 00:01:29.080
position is wider.
31
00:01:29.080 --> 00:01:32.970
If you tend to really struggle with low point issues, you will most likely have
32
00:01:32.970 --> 00:01:33.460
the club
33
00:01:33.460 --> 00:01:37.300
wide before the ball and then narrow after the ball.
34
00:01:37.300 --> 00:01:42.770
To get a better flat spot and a better impact line, you want to have the club
35
00:01:42.770 --> 00:01:43.460
narrow or
36
00:01:43.460 --> 00:01:48.380
more in line with the golf ball coming in and then wider on the way through.
37
00:01:48.380 --> 00:01:52.040
That can relate to arm extension timing, but it can also relate to how you're
38
00:01:52.040 --> 00:01:52.800
controlling
39
00:01:52.800 --> 00:01:56.480
the club face, which we'll dig into in the next section.
40
00:01:56.480 --> 00:01:58.080
Quick summary here, tying it all together.
41
00:01:58.080 --> 00:02:02.680
If you're struggling with low point, you want to look at your basic swing shape
42
00:02:02.680 --> 00:02:02.920
.
43
00:02:02.920 --> 00:02:04.400
Where is the low point?
44
00:02:04.400 --> 00:02:09.350
So you can draw the lines and just work on figuring out your own way to get the
45
00:02:09.350 --> 00:02:09.880
bottom
46
00:02:09.880 --> 00:02:13.320
of the swing ahead of the golf ball that will help with solid contact.
47
00:02:13.320 --> 00:02:18.360
You also want to look at the width and the flat spot and the depth.
48
00:02:18.360 --> 00:02:22.120
Those will all relate to more the consistency and the repeatability of how well
49
00:02:22.120 --> 00:02:22.540
you can
50
00:02:22.540 --> 00:02:24.380
control that low point.
51
00:02:24.380 --> 00:02:30.620
The big factors in controlling your low point relate to where is the upper body
52
00:02:30.620 --> 00:02:31.380
in space
53
00:02:31.380 --> 00:02:34.380
and at what time are the arms straightening.
54
00:02:34.380 --> 00:02:39.320
Remember, I use the arms to represent what's happening at the shoulders, what's
55
00:02:39.320 --> 00:02:40.060
happening
56
00:02:40.060 --> 00:02:43.020
at the elbows, and what's happening at the wrist.
57
00:02:43.020 --> 00:02:46.550
In the next levels, we'll dig into more of the details of which part of your
58
00:02:46.550 --> 00:02:47.580
arm straightening
59
00:02:47.580 --> 00:02:52.260
might be affecting your low point if you have more of a release issue.
60
00:02:52.260 --> 00:02:56.600
But in the next class, we're going to go through the first round of talking
61
00:02:56.600 --> 00:02:56.900
about how
62
00:02:56.900 --> 00:03:00.220
to hit the ball straight, what controls curve.
63
00:03:00.220 --> 00:03:03.290
So you're going to learn not just to make solid contact, but you're going to
64
00:03:03.290 --> 00:03:03.700
learn how
65
00:03:03.700 --> 00:03:05.420
to control ball flight.
66
00:03:05.420 --> 00:03:09.770
You'll also discover a couple reasons why your brain might subconsciously
67
00:03:09.770 --> 00:03:10.540
struggle with
68
00:03:10.540 --> 00:03:11.540
this low point.
69
00:03:11.540 --> 00:03:14.340
So we'll see you in the next round where we cover hitting the ball straight or
70
00:03:14.340 --> 00:03:14.940
controlling
71
00:03:14.940 --> 00:03:17.420
your ball flight.
