Fixing your worst miss speeds up improvement!
Fixing your worst miss is the fastest way to improve. The reason you struggle with a certain miss, or club, is likely because of your technique. Understanding your most painful miss will help you identify the biggest limitation in your game. It's likely the low hanging fruit that helps you improve fastest.

00:00:00.000 --> 00:00:08.790
All right, golfers, let's do a quick overview for why I suggest fix your worst
2
00:00:08.790 --> 00:00:09.880
miss.
3
00:00:09.880 --> 00:00:15.670
So fix your worst miss is basically whenever the golfer comes in, I'll ask, you
4
00:00:15.670 --> 00:00:16.720
know, what's
5
00:00:16.720 --> 00:00:17.920
what costs you the most strokes?
6
00:00:17.920 --> 00:00:18.920
Do you chunk it?
7
00:00:18.920 --> 00:00:20.640
Do you top it?
8
00:00:20.640 --> 00:00:22.080
Or do you hit it pretty solid?
9
00:00:22.080 --> 00:00:25.280
You hit it the right distance, but you miss them right, you miss them left.
10
00:00:25.280 --> 00:00:30.920
That can help us figure out where to look when analyzing your video.
11
00:00:30.920 --> 00:00:35.150
As the cat in the in Alice in Wonderland states, if you don't know where you're
12
00:00:35.150 --> 00:00:35.640
going then
13
00:00:35.640 --> 00:00:38.360
any road will take you there.
14
00:00:38.360 --> 00:00:41.020
What I find is when golfers come in and they're just like, well, what do you
15
00:00:41.020 --> 00:00:42.840
see on video?
16
00:00:42.840 --> 00:00:46.500
There's probably dozens of different things that all relate to each other, how
17
00:00:46.500 --> 00:00:47.200
those pieces
18
00:00:47.200 --> 00:00:48.200
match up.
19
00:00:48.200 --> 00:00:52.430
To figure out which is the critical one or the easiest one to start working on
20
00:00:52.430 --> 00:00:52.720
right
21
00:00:52.720 --> 00:00:58.360
away, you want to tie it to the miss.
22
00:00:58.360 --> 00:00:59.440
There's two different scenarios.
23
00:00:59.440 --> 00:01:01.800
You could either just try to build a swing.
24
00:01:01.800 --> 00:01:04.150
So I'm going to work on setup, then I'm going to work on takeaway, then I'm
25
00:01:04.150 --> 00:01:04.680
going to work
26
00:01:04.680 --> 00:01:08.080
on setting the club, then I'm going to work on transition.
27
00:01:08.080 --> 00:01:12.960
To go through all those pieces, it might take you a good six or eight months to
28
00:01:12.960 --> 00:01:13.960
work on
29
00:01:13.960 --> 00:01:18.120
enough of the details in those pieces to where you had it working out.
30
00:01:18.120 --> 00:01:20.720
Well, what if you had a release issue?
31
00:01:20.720 --> 00:01:26.520
Very few golfers are going to put in the time to go six or eight months without
32
00:01:26.520 --> 00:01:29.120
having immediate
33
00:01:29.120 --> 00:01:33.460
success or without having a big profound success on the way that they contact
34
00:01:33.460 --> 00:01:35.000
the golf ball.
35
00:01:35.000 --> 00:01:39.160
The analogy that I give is imagine you have a knee injury.
36
00:01:39.160 --> 00:01:43.390
You could go to some doctors and they would say, okay, we are going to start
37
00:01:43.390 --> 00:01:43.800
working on
38
00:01:43.800 --> 00:01:46.100
the foot and then we're going to work on the ankle and then we're going to work
39
00:01:46.100 --> 00:01:46.240
on
40
00:01:46.240 --> 00:01:50.010
the hip and then we're going to work on the lower back and the rib cage and the
41
00:01:50.010 --> 00:01:50.560
shoulders
42
00:01:50.560 --> 00:01:54.760
and the elbows and the wrists and then we'll work on the knee.
43
00:01:54.760 --> 00:01:58.610
Or you could go to someone who works directly on the knee to help calm it down
44
00:01:58.610 --> 00:01:59.560
and then circles
45
00:01:59.560 --> 00:02:02.080
back to the other areas.
46
00:02:02.080 --> 00:02:09.150
So most golfers would rather see the instant success and that fuels motivation
47
00:02:09.150 --> 00:02:10.640
and ultimately
48
00:02:10.640 --> 00:02:15.680
I think that it kind of gets your swing moving in the right direction faster.
49
00:02:15.680 --> 00:02:19.910
So when you are prioritizing and picking out which road you want to go on, I
50
00:02:19.910 --> 00:02:20.240
always
51
00:02:20.240 --> 00:02:24.800
recommend choosing solid contact or straightening out the ball flight or
52
00:02:24.800 --> 00:02:25.680
distance.
53
00:02:25.680 --> 00:02:30.000
So this can either be, I want to hit the ball further or I need to work on my
54
00:02:30.000 --> 00:02:30.760
quality of
55
00:02:30.760 --> 00:02:32.320
distance control.
56
00:02:32.320 --> 00:02:37.350
But solid straight far, that's the general goal and then from that I need to
57
00:02:37.350 --> 00:02:38.080
either work
58
00:02:38.080 --> 00:02:44.040
on my path, my club face control or my pivot sequencing.
59
00:02:44.040 --> 00:02:48.880
Those kind of all relate to each other but by having a specific goal it will be
60
00:02:48.880 --> 00:02:49.680
something
61
00:02:49.680 --> 00:02:53.620
that you can go back to and check on video each time and it will help you when
62
00:02:53.620 --> 00:02:54.200
you start
63
00:02:54.200 --> 00:03:02.830
to get lost or it will help you recognize when it's time to move on because oft
64
00:03:02.830 --> 00:03:03.920
entimes
65
00:03:03.920 --> 00:03:08.810
golfers want to work on the same thing past the point where it's really
66
00:03:08.810 --> 00:03:09.960
beneficial.
67
00:03:09.960 --> 00:03:13.420
If you're struggling with solid contact and hitting the ball straight, work on
68
00:03:13.420 --> 00:03:13.760
solid
69
00:03:13.760 --> 00:03:18.610
contact until that's no longer the major, major issue and then you can start
70
00:03:18.610 --> 00:03:19.200
working
71
00:03:19.200 --> 00:03:21.520
on something that hits the ball straight.
72
00:03:21.520 --> 00:03:26.100
So keep this in mind, pick the benchmark that you're trying to improve, that'll
73
00:03:26.100 --> 00:03:26.360
be
74
00:03:26.360 --> 00:03:34.350
your kind of objective, how well am I actually doing and then choose the major
75
00:03:34.350 --> 00:03:35.560
component
76
00:03:35.560 --> 00:03:39.480
that you're going to work on and analyze your video related to that component.
77
00:03:39.480 --> 00:03:41.470
That's what we're going to do in the rest of the videos, we're going to tailor
78
00:03:41.470 --> 00:03:42.000
our video
79
00:03:42.000 --> 00:03:44.400
analysis to each of these keys.
80
00:03:44.400 --> 00:03:47.730
So in general, when you're working on solid contact, we're going to look from
81
00:03:47.730 --> 00:03:48.160
the face
82
00:03:48.160 --> 00:03:53.870
on camera primarily and we're going to look at P six or shaft parallel, P seven
83
00:03:53.870 --> 00:03:54.680
impact
84
00:03:54.680 --> 00:03:59.120
and P eight shaft parallel that gives you a lot of the details of the release.
85
00:03:59.120 --> 00:04:02.880
I've one specific video for if you're shanking the ball, what are some ways you
86
00:04:02.880 --> 00:04:03.400
can look
87
00:04:03.400 --> 00:04:09.200
at video to identify what's the root cause of your shank because that is such a
88
00:04:09.200 --> 00:04:09.960
painful
89
00:04:09.960 --> 00:04:12.280
and challenging miss pattern.
90
00:04:12.280 --> 00:04:15.760
When it comes to hitting the ball straight, we're going to look at both of the
91
00:04:15.760 --> 00:04:16.480
major patterns
92
00:04:16.480 --> 00:04:18.520
of slice and hook.
93
00:04:18.520 --> 00:04:21.500
But when it comes to hitting the ball straight, we're primarily going to look
94
00:04:21.500 --> 00:04:22.000
at P six and
95
00:04:22.000 --> 00:04:23.000
P eight.
96
00:04:23.000 --> 00:04:28.640
So shaft parallel from the down the line on both sides of the golf ball.
97
00:04:28.640 --> 00:04:31.690
When it comes to hitting the ball far, we're going to look at the top of the
98
00:04:31.690 --> 00:04:32.320
swing, that
99
00:04:32.320 --> 00:04:36.160
P six magic checkpoint again, and then as well as impact.
100
00:04:36.160 --> 00:04:39.410
So in the rest of the program, we're going to dig into analyzing the videos
101
00:04:39.410 --> 00:04:39.960
from these
102
00:04:39.960 --> 00:04:41.440
different perspectives.
103
00:04:41.440 --> 00:04:47.320
They're much closer to becoming your own best golf coach.
1
00:00:00.000 --> 00:00:08.790
All right, golfers, let's do a quick overview for why I suggest fix your worst
2
00:00:08.790 --> 00:00:09.880
miss.
3
00:00:09.880 --> 00:00:15.670
So fix your worst miss is basically whenever the golfer comes in, I'll ask, you
4
00:00:15.670 --> 00:00:16.720
know, what's
5
00:00:16.720 --> 00:00:17.920
what costs you the most strokes?
6
00:00:17.920 --> 00:00:18.920
Do you chunk it?
7
00:00:18.920 --> 00:00:20.640
Do you top it?
8
00:00:20.640 --> 00:00:22.080
Or do you hit it pretty solid?
9
00:00:22.080 --> 00:00:25.280
You hit it the right distance, but you miss them right, you miss them left.
10
00:00:25.280 --> 00:00:30.920
That can help us figure out where to look when analyzing your video.
11
00:00:30.920 --> 00:00:35.150
As the cat in the in Alice in Wonderland states, if you don't know where you're
12
00:00:35.150 --> 00:00:35.640
going then
13
00:00:35.640 --> 00:00:38.360
any road will take you there.
14
00:00:38.360 --> 00:00:41.020
What I find is when golfers come in and they're just like, well, what do you
15
00:00:41.020 --> 00:00:42.840
see on video?
16
00:00:42.840 --> 00:00:46.500
There's probably dozens of different things that all relate to each other, how
17
00:00:46.500 --> 00:00:47.200
those pieces
18
00:00:47.200 --> 00:00:48.200
match up.
19
00:00:48.200 --> 00:00:52.430
To figure out which is the critical one or the easiest one to start working on
20
00:00:52.430 --> 00:00:52.720
right
21
00:00:52.720 --> 00:00:58.360
away, you want to tie it to the miss.
22
00:00:58.360 --> 00:00:59.440
There's two different scenarios.
23
00:00:59.440 --> 00:01:01.800
You could either just try to build a swing.
24
00:01:01.800 --> 00:01:04.150
So I'm going to work on setup, then I'm going to work on takeaway, then I'm
25
00:01:04.150 --> 00:01:04.680
going to work
26
00:01:04.680 --> 00:01:08.080
on setting the club, then I'm going to work on transition.
27
00:01:08.080 --> 00:01:12.960
To go through all those pieces, it might take you a good six or eight months to
28
00:01:12.960 --> 00:01:13.960
work on
29
00:01:13.960 --> 00:01:18.120
enough of the details in those pieces to where you had it working out.
30
00:01:18.120 --> 00:01:20.720
Well, what if you had a release issue?
31
00:01:20.720 --> 00:01:26.520
Very few golfers are going to put in the time to go six or eight months without
32
00:01:26.520 --> 00:01:29.120
having immediate
33
00:01:29.120 --> 00:01:33.460
success or without having a big profound success on the way that they contact
34
00:01:33.460 --> 00:01:35.000
the golf ball.
35
00:01:35.000 --> 00:01:39.160
The analogy that I give is imagine you have a knee injury.
36
00:01:39.160 --> 00:01:43.390
You could go to some doctors and they would say, okay, we are going to start
37
00:01:43.390 --> 00:01:43.800
working on
38
00:01:43.800 --> 00:01:46.100
the foot and then we're going to work on the ankle and then we're going to work
39
00:01:46.100 --> 00:01:46.240
on
40
00:01:46.240 --> 00:01:50.010
the hip and then we're going to work on the lower back and the rib cage and the
41
00:01:50.010 --> 00:01:50.560
shoulders
42
00:01:50.560 --> 00:01:54.760
and the elbows and the wrists and then we'll work on the knee.
43
00:01:54.760 --> 00:01:58.610
Or you could go to someone who works directly on the knee to help calm it down
44
00:01:58.610 --> 00:01:59.560
and then circles
45
00:01:59.560 --> 00:02:02.080
back to the other areas.
46
00:02:02.080 --> 00:02:09.150
So most golfers would rather see the instant success and that fuels motivation
47
00:02:09.150 --> 00:02:10.640
and ultimately
48
00:02:10.640 --> 00:02:15.680
I think that it kind of gets your swing moving in the right direction faster.
49
00:02:15.680 --> 00:02:19.910
So when you are prioritizing and picking out which road you want to go on, I
50
00:02:19.910 --> 00:02:20.240
always
51
00:02:20.240 --> 00:02:24.800
recommend choosing solid contact or straightening out the ball flight or
52
00:02:24.800 --> 00:02:25.680
distance.
53
00:02:25.680 --> 00:02:30.000
So this can either be, I want to hit the ball further or I need to work on my
54
00:02:30.000 --> 00:02:30.760
quality of
55
00:02:30.760 --> 00:02:32.320
distance control.
56
00:02:32.320 --> 00:02:37.350
But solid straight far, that's the general goal and then from that I need to
57
00:02:37.350 --> 00:02:38.080
either work
58
00:02:38.080 --> 00:02:44.040
on my path, my club face control or my pivot sequencing.
59
00:02:44.040 --> 00:02:48.880
Those kind of all relate to each other but by having a specific goal it will be
60
00:02:48.880 --> 00:02:49.680
something
61
00:02:49.680 --> 00:02:53.620
that you can go back to and check on video each time and it will help you when
62
00:02:53.620 --> 00:02:54.200
you start
63
00:02:54.200 --> 00:03:02.830
to get lost or it will help you recognize when it's time to move on because oft
64
00:03:02.830 --> 00:03:03.920
entimes
65
00:03:03.920 --> 00:03:08.810
golfers want to work on the same thing past the point where it's really
66
00:03:08.810 --> 00:03:09.960
beneficial.
67
00:03:09.960 --> 00:03:13.420
If you're struggling with solid contact and hitting the ball straight, work on
68
00:03:13.420 --> 00:03:13.760
solid
69
00:03:13.760 --> 00:03:18.610
contact until that's no longer the major, major issue and then you can start
70
00:03:18.610 --> 00:03:19.200
working
71
00:03:19.200 --> 00:03:21.520
on something that hits the ball straight.
72
00:03:21.520 --> 00:03:26.100
So keep this in mind, pick the benchmark that you're trying to improve, that'll
73
00:03:26.100 --> 00:03:26.360
be
74
00:03:26.360 --> 00:03:34.350
your kind of objective, how well am I actually doing and then choose the major
75
00:03:34.350 --> 00:03:35.560
component
76
00:03:35.560 --> 00:03:39.480
that you're going to work on and analyze your video related to that component.
77
00:03:39.480 --> 00:03:41.470
That's what we're going to do in the rest of the videos, we're going to tailor
78
00:03:41.470 --> 00:03:42.000
our video
79
00:03:42.000 --> 00:03:44.400
analysis to each of these keys.
80
00:03:44.400 --> 00:03:47.730
So in general, when you're working on solid contact, we're going to look from
81
00:03:47.730 --> 00:03:48.160
the face
82
00:03:48.160 --> 00:03:53.870
on camera primarily and we're going to look at P six or shaft parallel, P seven
83
00:03:53.870 --> 00:03:54.680
impact
84
00:03:54.680 --> 00:03:59.120
and P eight shaft parallel that gives you a lot of the details of the release.
85
00:03:59.120 --> 00:04:02.880
I've one specific video for if you're shanking the ball, what are some ways you
86
00:04:02.880 --> 00:04:03.400
can look
87
00:04:03.400 --> 00:04:09.200
at video to identify what's the root cause of your shank because that is such a
88
00:04:09.200 --> 00:04:09.960
painful
89
00:04:09.960 --> 00:04:12.280
and challenging miss pattern.
90
00:04:12.280 --> 00:04:15.760
When it comes to hitting the ball straight, we're going to look at both of the
91
00:04:15.760 --> 00:04:16.480
major patterns
92
00:04:16.480 --> 00:04:18.520
of slice and hook.
93
00:04:18.520 --> 00:04:21.500
But when it comes to hitting the ball straight, we're primarily going to look
94
00:04:21.500 --> 00:04:22.000
at P six and
95
00:04:22.000 --> 00:04:23.000
P eight.
96
00:04:23.000 --> 00:04:28.640
So shaft parallel from the down the line on both sides of the golf ball.
97
00:04:28.640 --> 00:04:31.690
When it comes to hitting the ball far, we're going to look at the top of the
98
00:04:31.690 --> 00:04:32.320
swing, that
99
00:04:32.320 --> 00:04:36.160
P six magic checkpoint again, and then as well as impact.
100
00:04:36.160 --> 00:04:39.410
So in the rest of the program, we're going to dig into analyzing the videos
101
00:04:39.410 --> 00:04:39.960
from these
102
00:04:39.960 --> 00:04:41.440
different perspectives.
103
00:04:41.440 --> 00:04:47.320
They're much closer to becoming your own best golf coach.
