00:00:00.000 --> 00:00:04.960
This drill is the Trevino Drill, and this is to help you overcome your cast or
2
00:00:04.960 --> 00:00:07.000
upper body dominant swing pattern.
3
00:00:07.000 --> 00:00:12.500
So, the Trevino Drill, if you remember, Lee Trevino was a great ball striker
4
00:00:12.500 --> 00:00:14.000
who set up very open to the target,
5
00:00:14.000 --> 00:00:17.000
but was still able to hit all different kinds of shots.
6
00:00:17.000 --> 00:00:23.000
So, what we're going to do here is you're going to get set up so that your body
7
00:00:23.000 --> 00:00:26.000
is aimed about 40 degrees left of the target.
8
00:00:26.000 --> 00:00:31.460
Now, from this position, you're going to try to swing so that the club hits the
9
00:00:31.460 --> 00:00:34.000
golf ball down your target line.
10
00:00:34.000 --> 00:00:39.000
If you have the cast or upper body swing pattern, then what you'll end up doing
11
00:00:39.000 --> 00:00:42.000
is you'll end up casting as you normally do,
12
00:00:42.000 --> 00:00:45.610
where your arms start to downswing, and the club will swing very much to the
13
00:00:45.610 --> 00:00:46.000
left,
14
00:00:46.000 --> 00:00:50.440
and the only way you'll get it to start down the target line is if you keep the
15
00:00:50.440 --> 00:00:55.000
club face very open and hit more of a flop shot style shot.
16
00:00:55.000 --> 00:01:00.140
What I want you to try to do is you're going to have to exaggerate those arms
17
00:01:00.140 --> 00:01:04.000
staying very close to you as you come into the downswing,
18
00:01:04.000 --> 00:01:08.320
and the shoulders staying very closed or square compared to where your lower
19
00:01:08.320 --> 00:01:09.000
body is.
20
00:01:09.000 --> 00:01:14.050
This gives you a great sensation for the field golfer as to where your pelvis
21
00:01:14.050 --> 00:01:17.000
and your upper body should be at impact.
22
00:01:17.000 --> 00:01:22.090
Then what you can do is set up normal, and you'll try to get your hips as open
23
00:01:22.090 --> 00:01:28.000
as they were in the Trevino drill while keeping your shoulders closed.
24
00:01:28.000 --> 00:01:33.910
And that combination should give you a good feel as to the orientation of your
25
00:01:33.910 --> 00:01:39.220
shoulders, your rib cage, and your pelvis as to where they should be if you
26
00:01:39.220 --> 00:01:41.000
were to hit the ball coming from the inside.
27
00:01:41.000 --> 00:01:46.130
So give that a try for overcoming your cast or upper body swing pattern. It
28
00:01:46.130 --> 00:01:50.310
should help with the feeling that we're trying to get to swing the club from
29
00:01:50.310 --> 00:01:54.000
the inside and delay the upper body spinning.
