Shirt Buttons To Zipper

One of the biggest destroyers of wedge play is having your upper body hanging behind your lower body. If you've done this for years, you may not even know you're doing it. Focusing on your finish position can help you overcome this major problem for wedge game.

00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:04,000
This finished wedge drill video is shirt buttons,

00:00:04,000 --> 00:00:07,000
the zipper. So one of the things that I talk about is the difference of this

00:00:07,000 --> 00:00:11,000
axis tilt. One of the ways that you can look at it or measure it is if you take

00:00:11,000 --> 00:00:14,000
your ribcage and you figure out kind of the center of the upper part of your

00:00:14,000 --> 00:00:17,000
ribcage, it's kind of right about where your shirt buttons are. If you take your

00:00:17,000 --> 00:00:20,000
pelvis and you figure out where the center of that, it's about where my belt buckle

00:00:20,000 --> 00:00:25,000
or my zipper would be. Well with the full swing, with driver, you're going to see

00:00:25,000 --> 00:00:30,000
anywhere, you know, five six inches of difference between if you were to drop a

00:00:30,000 --> 00:00:35,000
line where your shirt buttons are and drop a line where your zipper is. For these

00:00:35,000 --> 00:00:40,000
finesse wedge and distance wedge shots, you're going to pretty much see them right

00:00:40,000 --> 00:00:45,000
on top of each other. So if you're someone who struggles with fat and thin

00:00:45,000 --> 00:00:50,000
contact, if you're someone who struggles with hitting, you know, laying side or even

00:00:50,000 --> 00:00:53,000
hitting double hit chips, there's a very good chance that your shirt buttons

00:00:53,000 --> 00:00:58,000
are getting well ahead of your, or sorry, that your zipper is getting well ahead of

00:00:58,000 --> 00:01:01,000
your shirt buttons. So for this drill, what you're going to do is after each

00:01:01,000 --> 00:01:07,000
shot, you're going to basically hang this off of your shirt buttons and it should

00:01:07,000 --> 00:01:11,000
roughly be in line with the middle of your pelvis. Now, it'll, it'll be a

00:01:11,000 --> 00:01:15,000
little tricky to see because of, you know, from your perspective because the

00:01:15,000 --> 00:01:21,000
amount, the differing amount of rotation, but you can still work on it. So if you

00:01:21,000 --> 00:01:25,000
were to check right here, they're roughly on top of each other. If I was to

00:01:25,000 --> 00:01:30,000
then go under this way, you can see my shirt buttons are clearly behind my

00:01:30,000 --> 00:01:34,000
belt buckle. For the finesse wedge, for the distance wedge, you pretty much want

00:01:34,000 --> 00:01:39,000
your spine to stay vertical and then your body is going to rotate around it. So

00:01:39,000 --> 00:01:48,000
it ends up looking something like this. So shirt buttons, from my perspective,

00:01:48,000 --> 00:01:50,000
that looks pretty good. This shirt buttons on top of zipper.
