1
00:00:00.000 --> 00:00:04.120
This drill video is looking at a power training circuit.

2
00:00:04.120 --> 00:00:10.520
So I frequently have, whether it's women or seniors, I have a lot of golfers

3
00:00:10.520 --> 00:00:10.800
who are

4
00:00:10.800 --> 00:00:12.640
looking to gain distance.

5
00:00:12.640 --> 00:00:18.000
And this is one of my go-tos as far as my entry points into learning to create

6
00:00:18.000 --> 00:00:18.960
more speed.

7
00:00:18.960 --> 00:00:21.840
It's very similar to the whoosh progressions.

8
00:00:21.840 --> 00:00:25.850
We're going to walk through a logical progression of just kind of creating

9
00:00:25.850 --> 00:00:26.960
speed and then trying

10
00:00:26.960 --> 00:00:28.600
to do it with a club.

11
00:00:28.600 --> 00:00:31.480
So the three ways we're going to do it are swinging a rope.

12
00:00:31.480 --> 00:00:35.000
We're going to swing the club just a shaft or you could use an alignment stick.

13
00:00:35.000 --> 00:00:38.720
And then we're going to swing the club with the club head.

14
00:00:38.720 --> 00:00:41.870
So the way that it would work, the way that it looks, is first we're going to

15
00:00:41.870 --> 00:00:42.440
swing with

16
00:00:42.440 --> 00:00:43.480
the rope.

17
00:00:43.480 --> 00:00:48.850
And just like the whoosh progressions, our goal is to get the whoosh to be out

18
00:00:48.850 --> 00:00:49.560
in front of

19
00:00:49.560 --> 00:00:50.720
the golf ball.

20
00:00:50.720 --> 00:00:54.360
So I don't want to have the whoosh starting back here.

21
00:00:54.360 --> 00:00:58.720
I want to have the whoosh well out past the golf ball.

22
00:00:58.720 --> 00:01:01.820
So you're going to take the club or sorry, you're going to take the rope and

23
00:01:01.820 --> 00:01:02.360
just kind

24
00:01:02.360 --> 00:01:06.520
of wrap it up around your back and you're going to make a backswing pivot.

25
00:01:06.520 --> 00:01:11.390
You're going to start with your lower body, then get those arms in front and

26
00:01:11.390 --> 00:01:14.200
then extend.

27
00:01:14.200 --> 00:01:20.130
And your goal is to create as loud of a whoosh on the opposite side of the ball

28
00:01:20.130 --> 00:01:21.040
as you can.

29
00:01:21.040 --> 00:01:26.440
Usually right like about five to 10 repetitions, then you're going to take your

30
00:01:26.440 --> 00:01:27.240
, whether it's

31
00:01:27.240 --> 00:01:30.080
your driver or your three wood or an alignment stick and you're going to grip

32
00:01:30.080 --> 00:01:31.360
it upside down.

33
00:01:31.360 --> 00:01:35.720
Now the goal is to get the whoosh in the same place.

34
00:01:35.720 --> 00:01:41.150
So the goal is to get the whoosh to happen out on the other side of the golf

35
00:01:41.150 --> 00:01:41.880
ball and

36
00:01:41.880 --> 00:01:47.780
to feel like the initial part of the swing is happening more from the lower

37
00:01:47.780 --> 00:01:48.520
body.

38
00:01:48.520 --> 00:01:53.940
Then you're going to grip the club normal and you're going to try and get that

39
00:01:53.940 --> 00:01:54.520
whoosh

40
00:01:54.520 --> 00:01:57.120
in the same place.

41
00:01:57.120 --> 00:02:01.840
Now even if you're using a three wood, I like to tee the ball up.

42
00:02:01.840 --> 00:02:08.290
Oh, by the way, for those first two, I like to do both right and left handed

43
00:02:08.290 --> 00:02:09.080
trying to

44
00:02:09.080 --> 00:02:13.080
get the whoosh out on the opposite side of the golf ball.

45
00:02:13.080 --> 00:02:16.810
I like training symmetry when it comes to speed, but then one sided when it

46
00:02:16.810 --> 00:02:18.120
comes to skill.

47
00:02:18.120 --> 00:02:24.760
So when you go to then hit golf balls, I would prefer that you do it teed up.

48
00:02:24.760 --> 00:02:29.520
So driver three wood teed up works pretty well, but we'll demonstrate one here,

49
00:02:29.520 --> 00:02:30.280
not teed up.

50
00:02:30.280 --> 00:02:34.920
So we've got that, that whoosh progression feeling.

51
00:02:34.920 --> 00:02:40.320
And then we're going to not really worry too much about where this goes.

52
00:02:40.320 --> 00:02:44.060
Just work on that sequencing and trying to get that same feeling, especially

53
00:02:44.060 --> 00:02:44.840
those soft

54
00:02:44.840 --> 00:02:55.800
arms during transition, and then big explosion on the way through.

55
00:02:55.800 --> 00:02:56.880
Something like that.

56
00:02:56.880 --> 00:03:02.210
So if you're struggling with distance, rope, then shaft, then club, I find that

57
00:03:02.210 --> 00:03:03.160
many golfers

58
00:03:03.160 --> 00:03:08.080
are just kind of swinging the club really slowly and so focused on getting the

59
00:03:08.080 --> 00:03:09.000
club face to

60
00:03:09.000 --> 00:03:13.580
square up that they forget that they need to swing with a little bit more

61
00:03:13.580 --> 00:03:14.360
effort.

62
00:03:14.360 --> 00:03:17.010
Swing with the rope makes it really hard to swing with your arms, so you're

63
00:03:17.010 --> 00:03:17.400
forced to

64
00:03:17.400 --> 00:03:18.920
swing with your body.

65
00:03:18.920 --> 00:03:23.010
Then when you turn the club upside down, it's kind of got the same, it's stiff

66
00:03:23.010 --> 00:03:23.680
er, but you

67
00:03:23.680 --> 00:03:26.890
don't worry about club heads, you get a really nice path training and you get

68
00:03:26.890 --> 00:03:27.400
really good

69
00:03:27.400 --> 00:03:28.840
release timing.

70
00:03:28.840 --> 00:03:31.490
And then when you turn the club right side up, now you have to coordinate it

71
00:03:31.490 --> 00:03:31.920
with the

72
00:03:31.920 --> 00:03:34.120
face control and low point control.

73
00:03:34.120 --> 00:03:38.700
But if you get that going, it's been one of my fastest recipes for helping you

74
00:03:38.700 --> 00:03:39.280
increase

75
00:03:39.280 --> 00:03:40.000
your club head speed.
