Massive thanks to all the first responders. In a wild time it’s important to unite - thought I’d create a little community of golf lovers, healthcare workers, or anyone interested to get together have some fun and get your mind off the news for a few minutes.
Grab some popcorn, maybe a club, sit back and lets have some fun 🤙🏽

Is it just me or does the driving range at Stanford always seem to have a tailwind?

Ehhh good question, I do all my filming at the back of the range and when there’s wind in usually dodging balls lol. I don’t find myself dodging balls that often but certainly Happens! I’d say, I don’t know, 20% of the time I’m it’s downwind 🤙🏽. Come what’s up next time you’re out there!

Faris is an internal medicine resident and in the hospital and clinics every day through whatever catastrophe hits. He starts his gastroenterology fellowship in July and again...”will be seeing patients no matter what.” Fuckin rights guy is a warrior.
He has a driving range in his apartment and is like 6’10 and hits a 6 iron 290 yards.

X-ray tech in nor cal! Golfing for 2 years now. Can't get a current swing to you yet but I do have one driver/ face on wedge from a few weeks ago. I sway off the ball and have a pretty flat backswing. I play a fade but my miss will be start line on target and fading right of it. I'm trying to get the start line more left of target without having to align too far left. My coach Is trying to get more rotation out of me as I tend to lock my hips in the backswing. Just not sure what is the first move off the ball I tend to sway off of it. Second swing face on is me trying everything in my power to not sway but feels terrible. Not sure if I would generate any speed with a longer club. I think it's because I turn my hips first then upper body. Should it be the other way around?

Driver swing is typically a draw but I’ve started working on power fades because I can hit it more consistent. However when my timing gets off I get too steep I feel like and over cook the fade to a almost more of a dead slice push kinda block. How can I get even more consistent with the fade but also still hit the draw on command too

Thanks Jake! In regards to axis point should I feel like I’m tilting away from the target but my weight still centered? Also, should my head stay behind the ball in both driver and iron shots? Bump the hips towards target but keep head behind? I’m going to work on hitting some cuts for sure!

Hi Jake,
Shoutout from Jakarta, Indonesia! Things seem worse here too, the government recommends social distancing. Tomorrow we are supposed to have Stanford alumni event while Stanford GSB Dean Jonathan is visiting us here to Jakarta, unfortunately the event is also cancelled.
So here I am practicing golf in my small living room :) I recently try to have shaft lean, when I practice at home using rubber ball, I manage to create the shaft lean. But when I am in driving range using real ball, it seems I don't have enough shaft lean or even many times I go back to my old habit casting it.
Can you please give me some advice? Thanks so much!!

Hi there,
I’m Danielle. I’m a Physician Assistant in the Philly area. I work in urgent care. Currently trying my best to educate people and alleviate their fears about everything going on. Our office is open 14 hrs a day every day of the year. When I’m not at work I’m trying to get out to work on my golf game. I’m currently a 25 handicap. My typical miss with my irons/hybrids is a top. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Hi. I’m a nurse for Adult and Family medicine. I’ve only been into golf for 8 months now so I’m a bit nervous about posting 😬. I go to the range 2-3 times a week and play almost every weekend (both 18 and 9). I struggle from pretty much everything but mainly going over the top and swing plane. I also can’t seem to manage a good follow through. My shots are mainly on the heel but lately I’ve been topping the ball. Any advice is much appreciated. Thank you for doing this!

I work adult ICU in SoCal. I will post some video on my next day off. I played college golf when doing my nursing prerequisites but after after hardly playing at all for 3 years while getting my BSN I just haven't been able to find all the old feels. So thanks Jake for the generous offer and recognition.

Hey Jake! Your video instruction is awesome! I’m not a Dr, but I’ve been a firefighter/officer Lt. for the passed 30 years with the FDNY. I just recently retired about two weeks ago! That being said, I’ll have a little more free time on my hands this golf season!😎
I hope it’s ok to send you a video from last year of my swing?

Normally hit a fade-slice with my driver. Irons are pretty steady but I think I struggle with a lot of elements that conk out together at the same time: smoothness of swing, sequence and I think I’m too arms-y. I don’t know if I’m too close to the ball or if I’m not turning my hips as much. I can go on and on. Just check my swing I’m sure there’s more.
I’m a mental game coach/sport psychology specialist who can’t apply the mental principles to myself once I address the ball hehe
Thanks in advance for the help Jake! You da man!

Man I hope all of you are staying safe out there. Appreciate all the work you guys do and Jake I appreciate you recognizing the healthcare employees and first responders. I am a FF/paramedic in the DFW area and going to school for my BSN. I have been playing golf seriously (playing once or twice a week) for about six months. I have played a ton of sports in my life and even played golf a few times a year for the beers and the fun. But I am trying to play more regularly and my goal is break 80 consistently. I'm not there yet but I'm going to get there.... Hopefully! I was hoping to post a new swing to this forum, but with everything going on I have just not been able to get out there. This swing is from a month or more ago. Since then, I have been working on shortening my back swing and clearing my right arm - turning my upper body and getting some right lateral bend. I struggoe with a pull and hook and even a slice occasionally. I get flippy(?) With my arms. Maybe just rolling my forearms at impact and closing the club face.
Jake, again, I appreciate it. G.

Appreciate the reply.
Do you have any drills I can do when hitting balls to help ingrain the motor changes?
I am a big fan of using mirror vision - how do you suggest I can optimise this for my practice when inside or on the range for quick results?

Love your stuff Jake. Down here in So Cal working at Kaiser Permanente working as a physical therapist still getting all those post ops in and video consults as much as possible! Feel like I’m having a lot of trouble w my transition from top of my back swing to the down swing! Keep up the great content!

Solid move! Need to get that face closing earlier which will keep the hands more passive and allow the body to turn a bit harder without worrying about the hook - Check out the vids below🤙🏽

Been following you for a long time and love your stuff. I am a firefighter/paramedic just outside of St. Paul/Minneapolis. I had to resort to my parents yard to get some swings in today with my wife and kids. I am a hack, but my goal is to beat our IT guys at least once this summer. My flow is about a 0.1 due to work rules and I realize that my swing is not Purina but I appreciate all that you are doing.

Hey Jake! My name is Jake as well. I am an ICU Nurse/Nurse Anesthetist student in Chicago, IL. I just recently came across your page and am a huge fan so far. I love your simple approach to the golf swing and greatly appreciate your generosity to the golfers of the healthcare community.

Jake,
My name is Whit Brown and I am an occupational therapist from Memphis, TN. I work in the ICU at St. Francis hospital and we are the stroke center for Memphis. I am a former college player but now I’m a weekend warrior.
Occupational therapists work to help patients regain their independence through exercise, mobility training, and ADLs (activities of daily living). I spend my days teaching patients how to renter their daily routines and sometimes how to discover what their new life looks like after a new diagnosis or accident.
I have been hitting the ball thin for over a year. This has led to me lacking compression, consistency, and the ability to work or flight the ball. I love what you do and appreciate how to are bringing golf to the layman. Keep growing the game my dude and any advice would be greatly cherished. 🤙

Hey Jake, my names Jeremiah. I’m a firefighter-paramedic in my hometown of Tracy CA. I’ve been watching your videos for quite some time now and i gotta say you’ve helped my game tremendously since I’ve followed you. I’ve never had lessons but with your videos I feel like I have lol. I honestly still don’t understand how you’re not on tour. Here’s my swing from about a month ago when courses were still open. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

Love your stuff my friend. Played football at Oregon St., couple years for Saints and now am a FF/paramedic in SD. I love golf and want to get better. Currently a 3, trying to shallow my AoA as I catch some heavy shots here and there. Shaft too upright on downswing... I want to be more laid off at top. Left arm pronation? More so an issue with long irons. Lmk what you think. Thanks bud.

Hey jake, my name is Adam and I’m from just outside of atlanta, Georgia. I’ve been a firefighter for 10 years and love playing golf on my off days.
Looking for a little help with my swing. I come over the top and hit low slices with my Driver and long irons. I’ve tried setting up the swing station that forces you to come under the alignment stick to drop it in the slot but for some reason, once I get into a round that goes out the window and I go back to my old habits. Just wanted to see if there’s a set up, grip, alignment issue or something else that might be causing me to revert back to bad habits. I love your videos and can’t wait to see what you have to say.
God bless
Adam

Hi Jeremiah -
I'm not sure your camera angle is the best but it looks like you are a bit steep with the arms coming down. Seems like the club pitches out late and you have a heel shot. The club doesn't appear to be on your right forearm plane and left wrist looks like its in extension instead of flexion. I would work on the motorcycle move w/UD and look up videos on shallowing. With my students I have them work on right shoulder external rotation and left shoulder internal in transition. You want the body to be steep and the arms to be shallow. Overall you look very athletic just want to clean up those areas. Hope this helps.

Hey bruv, my name is Lucas and I’m a ski coach/firefighter from Mammoth, CA. New to golf about a year ago, ex college baseball player and British ski team. Usual misses are a push or a good ol’ snap hook. Any tips or drills greatly appreciated. Thanks man love your stuff.
