Right hip depth

Tyler,
How important is right hip depth in backswing? Additionally, how does one gain right hip depth without sitting into it that seems to then set up a early extension jump into transition to find balance?
Thanks in advance.

I think right hip depth is only as important as it relates to other ideas. It's helpful for hand depth. It's helpful for torso side bend. It's helpful for loading the lower body (glute). So I usually monitor depth as it relates to those ideas. A lot of golfers do better feeling the right hip getting higher in the backswing to create tension. Especially if you are struggling with "sitting into the hip" as you said. I think right hip up or lead shoulder down are better ways to gain trail hip depth.
