Negative torsion: unlocked!

Hi Tyler! Just a little blurb here about the dangers of false recall. No matter how hard I’ve tried, I haven’t been able to get myself into negative torsion and I couldn’t maintain my arm extension into the finish without focusing on it- well, I found the obstacle, and it’s a literal concrete anatomical thing. I’d misremembered your demonstration during the “connecting trail hip to obliques” and for many months had been trying to “squish the bug” with the ball of my trail foot during release, ie, going into INTERNAL rotation. A little re-watch, and all of a sudden I can achieve negative torsion with short irons and finally my arms look right to me going into the finish! I am most certainly a dumb, but I can learn! Thank you ever so much, and killer idea about the diagnosis webinar! Wishing you more home run classes(down here we say “they can’t all be bangers”) Zach PS the full one I got cheeky and tried to add some zip, and surprised the hell out of myself by knocking it close to 150 with ladies’ PW. I’m used to getting about 138-140 when I step on my regular PW, so that was definitely new. Seems like when one removes a physical obstacle to rotation, the rotation becomes not only smoother but faster! I’m real excite. Z PPS holy cow- combo that feel with the lead foot lift up from “loading the trail glute” and we might just be cooking with gas(backyard driver). This thing is starting to feel like a golf swing! *squeals like 14 year old girl* PPPS So this is something that just kind of hit me, and it might not be something you’re interested in, but I’m just spitballing here: Sometimes, despite your best efforts and clear, precise explanations, and through absolutely no fault of your own, I find myself struggling to understand your directions. I postulate that it may have something to do with that fact that you’re so advanced that perhaps you take some things for granted because you assimilated them so long ago that you may have forgotten doing so. I know I find myself in that position when I’m trying to teach piano lessons sometimes, which is probably part of why I don’t particularly enjoy teaching piano lessons, but I digress. Harvey Penick and Bobby Jobes both said something to the effect of “there are a thousand different ways to explain a few dozen concepts,” and here’s my idea: An “In Their Own Words” section. It’s like an ELI5, but written by 5 year olds. What if, when you observe through a student’s posts that they’ve effectively grasped a concept, you were to invite them to explain in their own words how they did it and what they’re feeling- purely for the edification of other novices. Like kids teaching a section of class to other kids. Anyway, it might be too much of a headache, but it was a coffee thought that’s been brewing over the last week or so so I thought I’d share. I certainly don’t mean any offense- your explanation is about as good as it could possibly be; it’s just that I’m dumb 😂 Wishing you the happiest Sunday, Zach

Hi Zach, I'll pass on your suggestion to Lawrence and see what it would take. But to your post, yes, that looks like the best negative torsion you've created. Good discovery! Unsurprisingly, it also looks like the least slide and best bracing. That trail leg going internal can be a tough problem to crack, but looks like you've got a good feel brewing. Keep it up! Tyler
