Just looking for some thoughts on this pattern. He’s taken several lessons so far and we aren’t making great progress although that may be due to lack of practice but would like some others thoughts
Thanks in advance for any insight!

Thank Tyler
We’ve definitely been working mainly on that exact thing in terms of depth and delivery. His handicap dropped from 15-12 so we improved a little bit but I feel like I could do better. We do lots of 9-3 work, delivery and go swings, impact drills, slopes to feel shallowness /depth or at least what a more neutral swing direction feels like, hit hard and stop, impact bag, put alignment sticks in the way, etc. just a lot of things to try to get him to experience change and different seeing shape. His vsp was near 70 with 7 iron, swing direction way left, path always left and face all over the place as you can imagine. He heels a lot of shots due to way I think is his right arm extending early and he generates so much speed currently (125+ with driver) that I think it’s hard for him to adjust. Attached is just a couple days ago dtl only so definitely improving but just looking for more ideas of what to try drill wise and or what to look for in his/others swing.
Your Video definitely helped!
Thank you

Hi Cameron,
Glad the video helped. It sounds like you're in the right area and just need to keep working on finding feels. I do a lot of my tactile coaching techniques for working on delivery position. Golfers usually describe feeling twist in the back (some get a bit of cramping). I think one of the keys is feeling the depth while turning the hips/clearing the left side. That pattern is awkward at first for golfers who don't get a lot of dissociation in the mid spine. In my picture, I'm providing some resistance/positioning at 1 while asking him to turn 2, this will create the stretch feel mid-back, around the level of arrow 3.
I agree with you that it's probably connected to his speed and his tempo. So it probably feels weaker if he loads in a deeper way. Loading deeper creates more speed at the bottom rather than initial effort.
Keep us posted,
Tyler
