Hi Dave, Bracing is the term I use for absorbing the speed of the swing. Think of the golf swing similar to a jumping action. You would have a jumping phase and a landing phase. Bracing is equivalent to looking at how a person lands from a jump. In golf, the "landing" is handling a pull from the club. Common strategies include muscles and fascia absorbing the force: - pulling with the arms - biceps or triceps depending on if it's lengthening or shortening - shrugging the shoulders - upper trap - retracting the lead shoulder - rear deltoid, lat - a back extension - mid-back erectors, lower trap, lats - hip extension - glutes, abs - knee extension - glutes, quads, sometimes calves - knee flexion - quads, hip flexors - supinating the lead foot - more fascial than muscular It's an important part of looking at the holistic view of the golf swing.
