Hi All,
Let me introduce myself first.
My name is David ARRIGNON.
I currently live and coach in France.
The topics I like the most in the golf coaching world are 3D Mocap and Putting :). (I own a Sam, an Amm3D walkabout and a myswing system.
So here attached are the graphs and videos (separated post) of a right handed young man, who will turn pro in the coming years.
He and his coach came for a putting and 3D analysis.
His issues are, very high trajectory on short clubs, fade pattern whatever the club is.
Club path is always 5 deg left, face is squarish.
He has some kind a scooping pattern. Grip is a bit strong on the lead side.
Nothing really tells me in this 3D why he would have a scooping pattern. (No mobility issues in the wrists)
I would love some help :)
Let me know what you guys think.
High ROC, arc width graph not that bad, but doesn't have a higher peak after impact compared to address. KS is very decent.
Thank you
Best
David

The only thing I find suspicious is that he has a slide, he can go up to 6,4 inches at impact on other swings, which is a lot.
Is it enough to promote that kind of release, I don't know.
Or maybe it's an educational issue.

Without the wrist graphs, you won't see a lot of items in 3D that guarantee a flip release. The forward lunge of the upper body with the driver can certainly relate to the flip, but it's not so much that it would guarantee it.
Bending the arms is one way to move the path more left. He's on the lower end of thoracic rotation at impact, so perhaps the flip/roll is the main way he's able to get the fade path he wants.
There are a couple complementary moves that appear to be happening, so I would let stats point me to what interventions need to be made. Does he not hit his wedges consistently close enough? How does the scoop manifest into his game? Low point, face control, trajectory? That information helps prioritize
The attached picture shows:
Not fully straight arms (especially right)
Trail arm internal rotation and abduction
Lead arm shoulder external rotation more than supination
Faster rate of lead arm radial deviation
Body very much on top of the lower body (low axis tilt)
Club already passed the body (lower rotation numbers, higher arm activity
If you decide to change the release, one or all of those items might have to be addressed. That's a discussion for his primary coach to see if it's worth the gamble. Good luck!

Thank you for the in depth look of the data I posted !
The main issue is his wedging (full swings), short clubs trajectories are very high and short compared to longer clubs.
Club fitting shouldn't be an issue, so that leaves this release.
To be honest , I would like him more thorax and pelvis side bended, and rotated at impact, with the hope that it will provoke a better trail arm extension after impact.
What do you think?
Cheers

+David A I agree it's a release issue, and the body position change would be apart of the plan.
But as I listed above, I would be prepared for facing each of those potential issues.
If you want to post a wedge swing, we can dig into it a little more.
