00:00:00.000 --> 00:00:06.660
Australia's laser path training. So I'm gonna use a cat laser to help you train

2
00:00:06.660 --> 00:00:12.940
your path at home. Many golfers struggle with either an overly into out path or

3
00:00:12.940 --> 00:00:16.920
overly out to end. If you're overly into out you'll tend to struggle with more

4
00:00:16.920 --> 00:00:22.980
thin shots, more blocks and hooks, maybe even shank in the ball. If you're more

5
00:00:22.980 --> 00:00:28.260
outside in you'll tend to struggle with really deep divots. If you take divots

6
00:00:28.260 --> 00:00:31.440
at all you may have a chicken wing on the way through. You'll hit pulls and

7
00:00:31.440 --> 00:00:35.600
slices. You'll be better with the wedges kind of really struggle with the long

8
00:00:35.600 --> 00:00:40.680
clubs like the driver. So what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna use a cat laser

9
00:00:40.680 --> 00:00:42.080
instead

10
00:00:42.080 --> 00:00:47.960
of a golf club or actually in as a representation of where the shaft is

11
00:00:47.960 --> 00:00:51.840
pointing to help me figure out where the club needs to swing in both the

12
00:00:51.840 --> 00:00:55.000
downswing and the follow through. Now ideally you're doing this in a room

13
00:00:55.000 --> 00:00:58.600
where you've got walls all around you so you don't have to spin around. But I

14
00:00:58.600 --> 00:00:58.900
've

15
00:00:58.900 --> 00:01:05.720
only got this wall here that you can see. Now if I go ahead and get set up and

16
00:01:05.720 --> 00:01:06.640
I'm

17
00:01:06.640 --> 00:01:10.800
gonna take the club and I'm going to grip it so that the laser is sticking

18
00:01:10.800 --> 00:01:14.120
out the bottom. If you're you've got one club at home you can just tape it

19
00:01:14.120 --> 00:01:14.120
there

20
00:01:14.120 --> 00:01:17.940
and I recommend if you use a laser you get one that has an on/off switch so you

21
00:01:17.940 --> 00:01:22.480
don't have to keep pressure on it. So I've got the laser just like so. If I

22
00:01:22.480 --> 00:01:23.080
tend

23
00:01:23.080 --> 00:01:29.080
to have more of a slice then what that means is that the laser is going to work

24
00:01:29.080 --> 00:01:36.360
very much horizontally across the wall like this. If I tend to have more of a

25
00:01:36.360 --> 00:01:41.560
hook pattern that means that the laser is going to tend to work more vertically

26
00:01:41.560 --> 00:01:47.280
up the wall just like this. And when I'm coming into the ball it's gonna be the

27
00:01:47.280 --> 00:01:52.400
same thing. So if I tend to get the laser going out there that's gonna tend to

28
00:01:52.400 --> 00:01:57.440
produce more of that slice pattern. If the if the laser is working more

29
00:01:57.440 --> 00:02:04.040
vertically down like this that's gonna tend to swing out to the right. So I've

30
00:02:04.040 --> 00:02:08.920
used this with a number of students who are more visual learners to kind of get

31
00:02:08.920 --> 00:02:12.960
the pattern. So if you have more of a slice pattern you want the laser going

32
00:02:12.960 --> 00:02:18.800
straight up the wall. That would be a sign that you're keeping the club head

33
00:02:18.800 --> 00:02:22.880
further out towards the target line. If you have more of a hook it's already

34
00:02:22.880 --> 00:02:27.320
going straight up the wall. I recommend trying to get it to work more up the

35
00:02:27.320 --> 00:02:33.400
swing plane or even a little bit around to the left. Now as with most path

36
00:02:33.400 --> 00:02:37.160
training this doesn't really give you anything to work on with the club face

37
00:02:37.160 --> 00:02:41.480
but this can be a really good complement when you're practicing at home and

38
00:02:41.480 --> 00:02:45.120
working on your path. And you really don't even need a club. You could just

39
00:02:45.120 --> 00:02:50.600
take the the laser and basically start training some of these movements of

40
00:02:50.600 --> 00:02:55.280
having a little bit of tilt and body rotation and seeing how that makes the

41
00:02:55.280 --> 00:03:01.200
club work more around or up the swing plane. You could see how if you early

42
00:03:01.200 --> 00:03:06.400
extend that would tend to throw it straight up the wall and if you lunged

43
00:03:06.400 --> 00:03:12.250
forward like this that would tend to make it go low and horizontally across. So

44
00:03:12.250 --> 00:03:12.320
if

45
00:03:12.320 --> 00:03:16.440
you're more of a visual learner this is a great little device for helping you

46
00:03:16.440 --> 00:03:20.720
calibrate and dial in what your path tendencies are and you can work on

47
00:03:20.720 --> 00:03:24.720
balancing them by doing the opposite.
