Using Impact Tape - Putting

Use a piece of lie tape or coat the face with a dry erase marker (DO NOT USE A PER- MANENT MARKER - LIKE A SHARPIE). The impact location should match the putter’s true sweet spot. If it does not, then narrow the focus on the gate drill, experiment with ball position or review the single arm release drills.

00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:02,000
If every you're ready.

00:00:02,000 --> 00:00:04,000
OK, an easy way to identify where you're

00:00:04,000 --> 00:00:09,000
striking the ball on the putter is to get some impact tape.

00:00:09,000 --> 00:00:12,000
You can get this at any of the golf websites.

00:00:12,000 --> 00:00:13,000
Lionel tape works pretty well.

00:00:13,000 --> 00:00:17,000
You can see I've got this piece of Lionel tape right now.

00:00:17,000 --> 00:00:19,000
Taped across the putter face.

00:00:19,000 --> 00:00:25,000
So if I were to set up here now, I only have a three footer,

00:00:25,000 --> 00:00:27,000
but I'm going to have to pretend that this is about a 20 footer

00:00:27,000 --> 00:00:28,000
in order to make a mark.

00:00:28,000 --> 00:00:33,000
So I'm going to get up here, use all the rules of everything

00:00:33,000 --> 00:00:35,000
that we've talked about so far.

00:00:35,000 --> 00:00:36,000
I went to the center of the hole.

00:00:36,000 --> 00:00:42,000
And now you can see if you zoom in, you can see that I made

00:00:42,000 --> 00:00:46,000
contact pretty much between the sweet spot and that 16th of an

00:00:46,000 --> 00:00:46,000
inch that I was talking about.

00:00:46,000 --> 00:00:49,000
So I hit that dead center where I wanted to.

00:00:49,000 --> 00:00:53,000
And this will just provide feedback so that you can monitor

00:00:53,000 --> 00:00:56,000
how close you are to where you want to actually hit it.

00:00:56,000 --> 00:01:02,000
So this is a good way to have an object that is minimally

00:01:02,000 --> 00:01:03,000
invasive.

00:01:03,000 --> 00:01:05,000
You can just do your normal putter where you're normal

00:01:05,000 --> 00:01:08,000
putting stroke and it will give you very good feedback

00:01:08,000 --> 00:01:10,000
as to how well you are hitting ball on the putter or on the

00:01:10,000 --> 00:01:11,000
sweet spot.

00:01:11,000 --> 00:01:14,000
So give that try to get some light tape.

00:01:14,000 --> 00:01:16,000
If you don't want to use light tape, you can always just get

00:01:16,000 --> 00:01:19,000
some chalk and coat the kind of cover the face a little bit

00:01:19,000 --> 00:01:20,000
with chalk.

00:01:20,000 --> 00:01:21,000
Do not use the Sharpie.

00:01:21,000 --> 00:01:23,000
You can use dry erase chalk, impact tape.

00:01:23,000 --> 00:01:26,000
Anything just to give you feedback as far as if you are hitting

00:01:26,000 --> 00:01:27,000
ball right in the center.
