Play A Course On The Range

This is a great game for getting you mentally ready to play on the course, as well as testing your skills by adding a high level of randomness to your practice. Basically, you are going to pretend you are on a simulator and play a specific course. Be sure to use your pre shot routine for all shots, and to adjust lies and shot shapes for realistic outcomes depending on the quality of your shot. All greens are 2 putts, so be tough but fair as to if you "hit the green" or not.

00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:03,000
This game is play a course on the range.

00:00:03,000 --> 00:00:08,000
So this is a fun way to apply some random practice into your practice program.

00:00:08,000 --> 00:00:11,000
What you're going to do is you're going to pretend that you're playing a course.

00:00:11,000 --> 00:00:15,000
So my first shot maybe might be a T shot.

00:00:15,000 --> 00:00:17,000
So I'd pull out my driver.

00:00:17,000 --> 00:00:20,000
I'd pick exactly where a fairway is.

00:00:20,000 --> 00:00:25,000
If I have a course that I know really well, I can actually play that course in my head.

00:00:25,000 --> 00:00:27,000
So I'm going to play this fairway.

00:00:27,000 --> 00:00:33,000
And then I get up there, go through my full pre shot routine, go through and hit it, go through my full post shot routine.

00:00:33,000 --> 00:00:38,000
And then depending on how well I hit it, that's going to adjust my next shot.

00:00:38,000 --> 00:00:42,000
If it finishes outside of the fairway, then maybe I have to hit it out of a divot.

00:00:42,000 --> 00:00:47,000
I'm going to give myself a poor life for the second shot, or maybe it's in the trees.

00:00:47,000 --> 00:00:52,000
And I have to hit a little bit more of a punch or abbreviated swing to control trajectory.

00:00:52,000 --> 00:00:54,000
It helps me with my visualization.

00:00:54,000 --> 00:00:57,000
It helps me with my creativity.

00:00:57,000 --> 00:01:02,000
But ultimately, it really just gives me a great way to do brain and practice around the green.

00:01:02,000 --> 00:01:06,000
Now, we're going to play that any green you hit is a two-pot.

00:01:06,000 --> 00:01:12,000
So if I hit, let's say my second shot is a seven-iron, and I go ahead and swing, and I hit it really terribly.

00:01:12,000 --> 00:01:13,000
Now I have a wedge.

00:01:13,000 --> 00:01:17,000
If I hit the green with the wedge, then I made a bogey.

00:01:17,000 --> 00:01:22,000
It's very hard to shoot under par in this game, unless you're doing great on the par five.

00:01:22,000 --> 00:01:27,000
But a good score is going to be somewhere around 80 if you're kind of a new golfer,

00:01:27,000 --> 00:01:29,000
give yourself a par five on each one.

00:01:29,000 --> 00:01:34,000
But it still forces you to work on going through your process with driver,

00:01:34,000 --> 00:01:44,000
full swing, partial shots, wedge shots, and it allows you to really dial in that creativity and visualization as you're working on your stock full swing.
