Impact Fix

In this drill, you are going to take the "feel" of the door jam drill and turn it into an image, so that your brain can practice planning how to get to impact. It allows you to reinforce the pieces that you are working on with your impact position in an easy way.

00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:03,000
This drill is the impact fix.

00:00:03,000 --> 00:00:07,000
So the door jam drill is more of a feel for where you want to be an impact.

00:00:07,000 --> 00:00:13,000
The impact fix is more of a visual as far as how things are going to look differently.

00:00:13,000 --> 00:00:18,000
But it does allow you to practice something you're spatial awareness check points for impact.

00:00:18,000 --> 00:00:21,000
So impact fix is basically you're going to take your setup position

00:00:21,000 --> 00:00:26,000
and then without making a swing you're going to try to go to impact.

00:00:26,000 --> 00:00:29,000
So setup and then impact.

00:00:29,000 --> 00:00:34,000
And what you'll see is from a club's perspective the club is going to work

00:00:34,000 --> 00:00:40,000
kind of slightly towards the target and it's going to rotate closed to the shaft.

00:00:40,000 --> 00:00:46,000
So if I did that from the down line it's going to work slightly towards the target

00:00:46,000 --> 00:00:50,000
which would open the face and then it's going to rotate back to square.

00:00:50,000 --> 00:00:53,000
So it's just going to go like that.

00:00:53,000 --> 00:00:58,000
So from the down line view, a few check points is as you go to impact

00:00:58,000 --> 00:01:02,000
you'll still be able to see a little bit of the left arm from the down line.

00:01:02,000 --> 00:01:07,000
So I'm not on top like this that helps create some of the side bend and delayed trail arm.

00:01:07,000 --> 00:01:12,000
And compared to my body you'll see that the handle has slightly raised.

00:01:12,000 --> 00:01:18,000
So if I didn't change my body and I just went to impact it would look something like that.

00:01:18,000 --> 00:01:25,000
But once I add a little bit of that pelvis rotation, a thorac side bend and rotation

00:01:25,000 --> 00:01:28,000
now it gets it closer to back in line.

00:01:28,000 --> 00:01:31,000
So again here's setup.

00:01:31,000 --> 00:01:37,000
If I just put my hands in impact position it would look back there.

00:01:37,000 --> 00:01:40,000
So you can see that my hands are a little bit higher.

00:01:40,000 --> 00:01:46,000
Club faces rotated closed and it's back a little bit behind the golf wall.

00:01:46,000 --> 00:01:48,000
That's what allows for this rotation.

00:01:48,000 --> 00:01:49,000
So setup.

00:01:49,000 --> 00:01:53,000
Now I'm going to flex that left wrist.

00:01:53,000 --> 00:01:56,000
Extend that right wrist on hinge a little bit.

00:01:56,000 --> 00:01:58,000
My chest is pointing out just like so.

00:01:58,000 --> 00:02:03,000
From the face on view, it'll be able to see a couple other check points.

00:02:03,000 --> 00:02:08,000
So I'm going to get most of my weight onto that front foot.

00:02:08,000 --> 00:02:10,000
My hands get slightly forward.

00:02:10,000 --> 00:02:14,000
My left wrist goes to pretty flat and my right wrist still has some cup in it.

00:02:14,000 --> 00:02:20,000
Now for remember from the door game I'm not pushing down but I'm getting ready to kind of sling

00:02:20,000 --> 00:02:22,000
that club in the direction of the target.

00:02:22,000 --> 00:02:26,000
So it kind of looks like that.

00:02:26,000 --> 00:02:27,000
There's setup.

00:02:27,000 --> 00:02:28,000
There's impact.

00:02:28,000 --> 00:02:32,000
Once you have a good little reference frame you can't hit either nine to three or three

00:02:32,000 --> 00:02:36,000
quarter shots starting from that impact fix.

00:02:36,000 --> 00:02:37,000
So you go setup.

00:02:37,000 --> 00:02:38,000
You go to impact.

00:02:38,000 --> 00:02:42,000
You're going to do a little nine to three trying to get back there.

00:02:42,000 --> 00:02:46,000
It's a little bit challenging because you're not starting from a normal setup position.

00:02:46,000 --> 00:02:51,000
But it can be very useful for training that feeling of where impact is going to be.

00:02:51,000 --> 00:02:55,000
So there my hands feel like they're in a good impact position.

00:02:55,000 --> 00:02:56,000
Go back to nine.

00:02:56,000 --> 00:02:58,000
That was pretty good there.

00:02:58,000 --> 00:03:01,000
So this can turn into a hitting drill.

00:03:01,000 --> 00:03:06,000
But for the most part impact fix is going to be a position drill that you can use to train your impact

00:03:06,000 --> 00:03:08,000
position at home.
