Conservative Vs Aggressive

Golfers get stuck in a mindset of either playing conservatively or aggressively. Conservative strategy is generally when you aim for the fattest parts of fairways and greens and specifically avoid challenging bunkers, water hazards, trees etc. Aggressive strategy is when you try to shorten courses by challenging bunkers and water hazards and aim for the pin regardless of the surrounding trouble.

00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:04,000
This course game is conservative versus aggressive.

00:00:04,000 --> 00:00:09,000
So as it sounds, basically what you're going to do is when you get to every T or at predetermined

00:00:09,000 --> 00:00:13,000
holes before you start, you're going to play some holes conservatively, some holes

00:00:13,000 --> 00:00:14,000
aggressively.

00:00:14,000 --> 00:00:18,000
So if you're playing conservatively, that means you're going to swing easy and you're going

00:00:18,000 --> 00:00:19,000
to take less club.

00:00:19,000 --> 00:00:23,000
If you're going to aim for either the fattest part of the fairway or the fattest part

00:00:23,000 --> 00:00:24,000
of the green.

00:00:24,000 --> 00:00:27,000
If you're playing aggressive, you're going to take more club, you're going to aim at the

00:00:27,000 --> 00:00:31,000
pins or aim at the tightest lines, you know, basically trying to shortcut every dog

00:00:31,000 --> 00:00:32,000
leg.

00:00:32,000 --> 00:00:38,000
So you can either do front-ninegressive, back-nineg conservative, you could do evens odds,

00:00:38,000 --> 00:00:42,000
or you can flip a coin on each T box and see what goes from there.

00:00:42,000 --> 00:00:46,000
What you'll find is that you're going to gravitate more towards one style versus the

00:00:46,000 --> 00:00:51,000
other and what you'll find is that even if you've been trying to play smart, if your skill

00:00:51,000 --> 00:00:56,000
level is caught up and you're doing better than you think you can, you may find that playing

00:00:56,000 --> 00:00:59,000
aggressively helps you shoot the lower scores.

00:00:59,000 --> 00:01:04,000
So this will help you kind of break out of comfort zones, or if you're struggling with

00:01:04,000 --> 00:01:08,000
your game, realize that playing conservatively can give you a bigger margin of error

00:01:08,000 --> 00:01:10,000
when you don't quite have your stuff.
