Jeffrey Mann and the Motorcycle move

Pretty interesting video from Jeffrey Mann. I know he has quite the reputation but it's been interesting to watch him talk and demonstrate as opposed to his writing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=igELtYhmk9E The video is pretty long and the bulk of the content happens in the middle part when he cuts to his camera. Lots of discussion on how the motorcycle could be misinterpreted and how depending on the misinterpretation the utility changes. Would love to hear your thoughts @Tyler. For one thing I did enjoy the part that separates the fingers and the wrist itself in bowing insofar as it made me think.

Oof realized there was another thread about this 5 years ago haha. I'm not sure if this video is anything new or interesting then or if he's just reiterating his points from 5 years ago.

Hi Joey, Yea, he was hard to have a discussion with back then. I listened to the video on 3x speed, so I might have missed a few things. But in general, he's a theorist vs my focus is more on a practical application. As far as the motorcycle, using the same clip he used of Scottie Scheffler, I'd say the downswing is more flexed than the takeaway, and to me it looks like it's gone past a flat wrist and into slightly bowed territory. I'm open to the idea that there is a better way to coach it, but when I asked him what happens when he works on the motorcycle himself, he didn't have an answer. The challenge for me is that he appears to spend many long videos trying to explain something that appears easily testible. Find a few people who don't have a lot of change between P2 and P6 and have them make swings trying to work on flexing the wrist, vs just increasing the grip pressure (or however he wants to present his take). Also, in the video I watched, his demonstration of the release looks off to me (the last screenshot and screen recording showing "I think Scotties release is very natural, but his movement looks nothing like Scottie's". To me, it doesn't look like he's using his scapula or rib cage right which means that the wrist wouldn't be able to act appropriately either. And it's crazy to me to discuss the motorcycle in complete isolation without talking about it in relationship to the scapula movement or to the pivot. But to each their own. I'm happy to add more if you have specific questions, but I probably won't watch all of his content to just share my thoughts. Happy Golfing, Tyler
